Present....

Tulog na tulog na si Paulo pagkakain ng dinner. Pinagpahinga kagad ito ni Kate at pinapasok sa kwarto para makapag-usap sila ng masinsinan ng ama nito.

She smirked at herself. Ngayon lang niya tinawag si Pavel na ama ng anak niya in her head. Matagal na niyang kinalimutan ang lalaking ito matapos ng mga ginawa nito sa kanya apat na taon na ang nakakaraan. She vowed to never see him or seek him again.

Pero nakakatawa nga siguro ang tadhana dahil nagtagpo ulit sila kahit na lumayo at nagtatago na siya.

Pavel was now sitting on her small living area just across the small dining table kung saan kumain sila kanina. He was brooding, obviously mad after finding out that they have a child together at itinago niya iyon.

"Before you say anything, I just want you to know that you pushed me to do this," she stated matter-of-factly.

"Pushed you to do what?" he asked, now even more mad.

"Not tell you anything. You wanted me out of your life completely. You never wanted to see my face ever again-"

"That doesn't mean cutting me off from my own son's life!" pigil na sigaw ng binata. Tumayo na ito ngayon para harapin siya. "How dare you do that! That is my son and heir you're talking about."

"When you said you didn't want to see me again, I took it seriously."

"Now all the more that I hate you. But I am taking back my son," seryosong saad ng binata.

That rattled her to her senses. Kate's eyes grew big in fear at his declaration. Ito na nga ba ang kinakatakutan niya. She knew it at the deepest depths of her heart na kayang-kaya nitong ilayo ang anak nila sa kanya.

"Please... Please, Pavel. I'll do anything you want. Just please... don't take my son away from me. He's the only one I have. We can talk about this. I can give you some time to get to know him so you can spend time with him. But please, don't take him away from me," pagmamakaawa niya. She didn't realize she was already holding on to his arm while pleading for his mercy.

"Paulo will fly back with me to Rome," he stated matter-of-factly, obviously not taking no for an answer. "He will have my name and he will be educated and clothed fitting to his name."

She looked down, not wanting to meet his gaze anymore, afraid that she might succumb to him completely. Her heart was starting to flutter just by looking at his eyes. "I gave him your name. Paulo Dostoevsky-Sokolov."

"You did?" he said unbelievingly.

"Yes, I did. I still wanted him to know who he really was. I was ready to explain to him everything if ever he asks."

"Had I not seen you here, I will never find out!" galit na galit pa ring turan ng binata. Mahigpit nitong hinawakan ang mga braso niya ngayon, trapping her completely. "You will pay for this, Katerina. You will pay for this."

The anger and fire in his eyes was enough to stone her. She knew what he could do. It was still as bright as the day when it happened. No matter how long ago it was, she could clearly remember what Pavel was capable of. He was from another world... a cruel one. He can kill if needed. He can... hurt her if he wanted.

"Pack what you need. We are flying back to Rome at dawn."

"What?"

"My son is coming with me. I won't take 'no' for an answer. And you, you will have to come with him as well. I'm not as cruel as you to take his mother away from him!"

Iyon lamang at binitawan na siya nito.

She was in shock. Going back to Italy and being with him again sparked painful memories in her head... memories she didn't want to reminisce but it came, forceful like lightning.
