Get You Back [Completed]

Chapter 18

Katerina's head was spinning. But her eyes struggled to open dahil sa liwanag na nanggagaling sa isang bukas na bintana.

Katerina saw herself in a huge hotel room. The sun was shining brightly out the window. But the room was unfamiliar. How did she even get here?

At bigla niyang naalala ang mga nangyari bago siya mawalan ng malay.

"Hannah!" she suddenly exclaimed and sat up. She examined herself and saw that she was wearing the same dress na suot niya before she lost consciousness. She hurriedly peeked out the window to see na nasa isa siyang secluded hotel. She was in a tall building, probably twenty floors high or more. The glass window was closed and couldn't be opened. So she did the next best things.

She searched for the door and screamed her lungs out.

"Help! Let me out! Help!" 

Paulit-ulit ang sigaw at katok niya roon.

No one seemed to hear her. She also tried to listen to any outside noise pero tahimik ang hallway sa labas ng kwarto niya.

Was she kidnapped? By Hannah? Hindi siya makapaniwala. Where could Pavel be? And his son Paulo? She looked around her hotel room pero wala roong kahit anong telepono. She went to examine the bathroom. It had no windows as well. 

Just as she was preparing to scream at the top of her lungs once again, bumukas ang pintuan ng kwarto nya at pumasok roon si Hannah with two bodyguards.

"The princess is awake," nakangiting bati nito sa kanya. She circled the bed and stood in front of her.

"Where am I? What did you do?" makahulugang tanong niya.

Umiiling-iling sa harapan niya si Hannah. "Poor, little Katerina. I actually pity you. You know that?"

"Where the hell am I?" matapang tanong niya dito. They were now eye to eye. 

"It's top secret. But your husband already knows and he's on the way here. But by the time he gets here and by the time I get the money, you'll be dead."

"What are you talking about?" She tried to suppress her fear.

"Actually, you don't have any fault here, Katerina. You're just a casualty I need to kill for revenge. Your future husband killed my husband. It is only right that I avenge him."

"Who?" naguguluhang tanong niya.

Hannah moved back and walked towards the window. "You don't seem to remember. Ivan? Does it ring a bell?"

Her whole body froze. Ivan. He was the first man he saw Pavel kill in broad daylight, saying that he was a threat to the both of them. 

"Y-your Ivan's wife?"

Tumango si Hannah. "Do you know how much it hurts to lose the person you love the most? Pavel killed him without mercy and I've waited years to avenge him. I've been secretly working for the Sokolov family for the past few years. You happened to be the easiest target... For that, I'm really sorry." Her smile deepened. "On second thought, I really am not that sorry. I actually pity you. Pavel is hiding a lot of secrets from you... even your own wealth."

That piqued her interest. But she remained silent.

"My husband Ivan as was one of Pavel's father's men. The old consigliere was... well, he was obsessed with your mother alright. And he visibly doted on you. From what I heard, you were doted so well that your old stepfather left you half of his wealth."

"N-no... that couldn't be. I... never received..."

"Because your husband is controlling your wealth. He never revealed to you the truth, isn't it? That your stepfather divided his wealth to the both of you?"

She shook her head no. 

"Oh, I'm sorry, Katerina. Pavel isn't the prince you're expecting him to be. I think he purposely threw you out of Europe the moment his father died so he can control your wealth as his."

And suddenly, all the pain from the past kept crawling back to her. "No... it can't be. Pavel would never..."

"Oh, he would. He is a murderer just like his Family. Have you forgotten? He killed my husband?" Hannah turned towards her bodyguards. "Keep her here. I'll be gone for a bit! Make sure she doesn't leave."

She tried to run after her but one of the guards was quick to get a hold of her. 

The shock in her body kept her from being agile. She felt so... weak. She wasn't able to do anything when the bodyguard threw her back to bed and closed  to door to her face.

It was only then when she was alone that she let the tears fall from her eyes.

Her thoughts went back to Pavel. She badly wanted to believe that he would not do that to her. He could never... but her memories failed her. He threw her out of Europe the moment their parents died. She almost died trying to escape him and his men. 

And now, her life was in danger once again.

Because of him.
