Chapter 14

"You got everything you need?" Natasha asked her.

But she kept quiet and returned all her favors with a hug. "I don't know what I'd do without you. Thank you so much." Katerina lied to Natasha. She said she would fly back to the Philippines to think.

But no, she has other plans. She's not leaving this country without his son.

"Stay in the hotel before your flight," Natasha scolded her. "Here's your fake passport and flight tickets." Iniabot nito sa kanya ang isang envelope.

"I will. Thanks for arranging everything for me. I'll do anything to pay you back as soon as I'm-"

"It's fine. Just stay safe, okay? Your husband's going to kill me for this but... I only want to help you. I know you're still confused. I know for sure you don't want to be part of this life. I just wish... you could come to terms with having him as your child's father. No matter how much you don't want to be wed to him, he's still Paulo's father. Pavel still has a right to him. Pretty soon, you both should talk about this."

"I will. Probably not now," she said and put the envelope in her tote bag.

"Anyway, the car's ready."

She nodded and gave Natasha another hug before leaving. "Visit me when you can."

"I will," Natasha responded and gave her a small smile.

Katerina finally thought of a plan to get his son back. With Pavel's security tighter than usual, she knew for a fact that she couldn't just enter his mansion without him knowing. So she thought of a way to lure him out of his own for. She pretended to want to see him and be with him. She pretended to want to meet up with him in Sicily, a beachside resort where she supposedly was hiding. It was only meant to confuse him and keep security in the mansion less tight for her plan. She knew the ins and out as she used to live there. She grew up there for a time. If there was anyone who knew the best routes and halls to take to avoid security and maids, it was she.

She called him last night briefly and only mentioned the resort name. His voice was gentle and pleading, wanting to see her so bad that he immediately agreed. So she set out her plan in motion. Pavel thought she was in a beach resort in Sicily. Natasha thought she was flying back to the Philippines.

No one would actually think that she was returning to the mansion tonight to get Paulo back.

It was dark but the orchard was a place of solace more than anything. Nakapasok si Katerina sa orchard sa likod ng bahay at kasalukuyang madilim na roon at walang katao-tao. There were no guards back here so she was able to enter through the forested entrance sa likod pa ng orchard.

No one probably expected her to know the hidden entrances to the estate.

Tinahak niya ang pathway papunta sa gazebo kung saan makikita niya ang daan pabalik sa mansion.

But before she could reach the gazebo, nakakita na siya ng ilang mga gwardiya na nagro-rounds. There were also men in suits walking around, probably bodyguards of some visitors sa bahay. But Pavel is supposedly not here.

Her breathing quickened but she remained calm. She wanted to blend around kung kaya't nagsuot siya ng kasuotan na madalas na sinusuot ng mga tauhan nila sa kusina. A white peasant top and a long, beige skirt. Pero wala siya ng apron na usually sinusuot ng mga ito.

The gazebo was still there, well lit and blooming with all kinds of flowers. She was near the entrance and decided na sumaglit muna doon para magtago sa mga gwardiya. It was only past nine in the evening at malamang ay marami pang gising sa kusina. Sa dami ng mga tauhan ni Pavel, sigurado siyang hindi lahat magkakakilala. She can pretend to be a newbie and they won't notice.
