It was like walking back in time. Katerina walked into the grand mansion that looks almost like a palace, looking exactly like how it was years ago... Nothing has changed. The estate was well maintained. The garden on the left side of the land was well-maintained. They also passed through the orchards where she once spent most of her time as they drove from the entrance gate.
And then, her hands started sweating profusely. Bigla siyang kinabahan at natakot.
She was back... back in the life she ran away from. And she was back with the same man who threw her away years back. How did she end up here again?
"Katerina," Pavel, who was sitted beside her, whispered. "It's alright. You're safe here. No one could ever hurt you or my son."
She looked at him. How could she be safe here if she was sitting precisely beside a man who is capable of... killing? But when she saw him cradling their son safely in his arms, she wanted to believe him.
A bodyguard opened the car doors and the scent of oranges filled the air, exactly how Katerina remembered it.
"Go on, love. Step down," coaxed Pavel.
She breathed deeply, taking in the familiar air, then stepped out of the car for the first time. All the estate workers were lined up at the entrance of the villa, greeting them with all smiles. Do they remember her? Do they remember the young, naive girl she once was?
"Welcome back, Ms. Katerina. We will deliver all your belongings to your room, madame," one of the butlers said, smiling.
"I'm tired. We should step inside and get some rest. I still have business to attend to in the evening," she heard Pavel complain.
She looked at the man behind her, still carrying their sleeping son. He walked up the stairs into the huge double-door entrance at pagkatapos ay nilingon siya. He was waiting for her to follow him.
When he saw her hesitating, he extended his free hand towards her. "Love?" he asked.

Years ago
Blood! Blood all over...
Katerina was tied in a dark basement, with no windows or lights. She can smell blood and drain water all around her. But what scared her the most was blood all over her dress and on the floor beside her.
She woke up, disoriented and distressed. The only thing she could remember was running from two men chasing her down a dark alley. She ran away from her bodyguards that day because she wanted to be alone... far from everyone.
Far from Pavel.
But she ended up being chased by the exact reason why she wanted to get away - all the chaos of the world she once thought was her fairy tale.

"Katerina," Pavel called out to her again. His hand was still extended as he refused to step inside the house because she remained glued in front of the car.
"S-Sorry," she whispered under her breath and followed him. She hesitantly took his hand as everyone around them were staring at her.
She didn't know what the workers thought. But in their eyes, for sure, they seemed to look like a normal, happy family. Now that their son is here, he would finally get to know his heritage. But she feared the life he would lead after he has gotten to know who he really is.
She remembered the grand foyer with the grand staircase leading to the east and west wing. Pavel pulled her alongside him, leading her to doors and doors of grandiose rooms. Then, he stopped.
It was the master suite, where their parents used to sleep. It was the biggest room in this palace-like mansion with the best view of the orchard.
"Go inside," Pavel pushed her, pointing to the double doors, while he still carried their sleeping son.
She turned the knobs softly and quietly and was greeted by the most amazing light. It was even better than how she remembered it.
"You're giving me the biggest room in the house?" she asked, confused.
"You're sleeping with me," he clarified.
That shocked her. "What?"
Pavel slowly walked to the master suite's bed and placed their son there, ever so softly and carefully. Then, he walked back towards her and smiled. "It's big enough for the both of us. And besides, there's an adjoining room for Paulo. It makes sense."
"I demand a separate room. There are a lot of guest's rooms here."
Pavel looked at her intently and cocked his head. "You scared of me, Katerina?"
Her jaw fell open slightly at the accusation. But of course, she wouldn't show him her weakness - that she feels afraid just stepping back into this life that she tried to forget the past years.
"I am not," she firmly said, but her eyes averted his gaze.
His right arm suddenly snaked around her waist, snatching her closer to him with his other hand, lifting her chin to meet his gaze. "You are, my love. Trust me. You have nothing to fear. You have nothing to be sacred of me or other people. I will protect you and our son no matter what it takes."
"I'm not afraid," she said again.
"Your eyes and your body say otherwise, Katerina. Remember? I know how to read you like the back of my hand."
She tried to look away but he kept her face firmly looking at him. Those eyes had been her pitfall before. And now, she can feel herself slowly succumbing to those same charming, brown eyes again.
So when his lips descended to hers, she didn't push him at all. Instead, she welcomed his lips and pulled him closer, wrapping her arms around his neck like his kisses meant oxygen for her.
Has she gone crazy? Probably.
