"ok i know youre excited but just know my parents might be a little much at first but they're really sweet when you get to know them" juliet said while standing outside of her parents front door.

jack grabbed her hand "juliet stop stressin. it's gonna be all good"

"juliet!" mary, coco's assistant, exclaimed as she opened the door. "and you must be jack"
juliet walked in hugging mary and jack smiled and nodded at mary.

"dovie!" coco yelled as she made her way down the stairs coming over to give juliet a kiss on the cheek. she then turned her attention to her side "ah and you must be jack. it's so nice to meet you" coco said embracing him.

juliet shook her head looking at her mom. coco's hair was covered in her nicest jewels and she was wearing a floor length gown that would have more well suited for a red carpet.
of course her mom was completely dolled up for a simple family dinner.
juliet knew her mom just wanted to make a good impression but both juliet and jack were very underdressed compared to her.

juliet linked arms with jack and juliet as she lead them into the dinning room.
"no no no mark that's not what we agreed to. i said no!" brooks said yelling at someone on the phone as he cut into the dinning room.
"hey sweetie" brooks whisper as he passed by juliet and kissing her head as he made his way out of the room.

juliet looked over at jack trying to say "im sorry" with her eyes and jack gave her a reassuring look.
brooks quickly rejoined them all and invited them all to sit down.

the perry's chef and his assistant quickly came out and served them their dinner before excusing themselves back into the kitchen.

"so jack i hear you're a rapper?" brooks asked cutting into his dinner.
"yes sir i am"
"oh that must be so fun. you know i was friends with a lot of rappers too before i met your dad" coco said winking at juliet.
juliet just shook her head and closed her eyes.

brooks brought the conversation back to between him and jack "so you're from la then?"
"oh no i'm from louisville, i only came to la for my career when my music really started to blow up"
"ah it's nice to meet a fellow outsider in this town. once youre born in la it's hard to escape" brooks said jokingly pointing his fork to juliet and coco. juliet rolled her eyes and coco just smiled at him.
"i came over to la when i was 8. i'm orginally from a little town in France and after i turned 18 my parents moved back there."

"wow i've heard france is beautiful i would love to go one day"
juliet piped in "oh it is. i used to spend every summer there with my grandparents growing up"

eventually everyone got more comfortable and the conversation started to flow. jack even got brooks to laugh a couple times.

as they were just wrapping up dinner brooks cleared his throat.
"ok jack you seem like a straight shooter so tell me what we your intentions with my daughter?"
"daddd" juliet groaned.
"well i love juliet. she's an amazing young woman, you both did an amazing job raising her. and i'm not exactly sure where our relationship will go yet but i'm excited to see"

brooks nodded his head and crossed his arms
"well that's great to hear but i just want to make sure you're not using juliet"
"dad! what?" juliet raised her voice looking at her farther.

"it's just we've had an issue with people getting close to our family with the sole intentions of upping their social status"
"oh well sir i can assure-" jack started before getting cut off.
"excuse me for asking but i mean juliet is just much more famous than you"
"dad!" juliet yelled standing up from her chair.
"what? i'm just looking out for you"
"no you're just looking out for you! for your image!" juliet said storming out of the room.

"excuse me" jack said getting up from the table and following after juliet.
juliet was standing by the door, tears streaming down her face "can we please just go"
jack nodded.

coco and brooks sat in silence at the dinner table as they heard their front door slam.

juliet and jack drove in silence, tension filling the car and jack drove back to juliets.

as jack pulled up in front of the house he let out a sigh "juliet so what your dad said you don't think that too right?"
juliet looked over, tear streaking down her face still "no of course not. my dad just gets consumed by his success and money sometimes and it makes him act like a dick"

"yeah i guess i should have listened to you more when you warned me about that but it's just why would he even think that when he knows how serious we are?"
"i don't know. i really don't"
"i mean did you really even tell you're parents how serious we are? we've been dating for a while and you always kept me separate from your family"

"why do you think i didn't take you over their sooner jack!" juliet said slightly raising her voice "because i knew some stupid shit like that would happen"

"do you? do you see me as less than you? are you embarrassed by me? is that why you kept me separate from your parents and your guys super famous friends?" jack said

juliet hung her mouth open and started crying harder "how can you even ask me that?" juliet said as she grabbed her purse and got out of his car slamming the door hard and running up her front steps. she slammed her front door and slide down it crying holding her head in her hands.
