*BEEP BEEP BEEP*

I groaned as I sat up. My leg ached.

*BEEP BEEP BEEP*

I quickly turned my alarm off. I looked at my phone's battery. 50%. Not too bad. I had charged it yesterday afternoon at Mr. Lee's house. Then I noticed that I had 3 new messages.

Mr. Definitely not a Pedo:
Kid, wait!
You're gone.
Sleep well, kid.

Kid:
Good morning, Mr. Definitely not a Pedo!
I'm sorry I had to leave so suddenly last night,
I lost track of time and I have school today.

I knew he wouldn't see it yet since it was so early. I quickly changed into a pair of clean clothes, quietly entered Mr. Lee's house so I didn't wake him, and put the dirty clothes in the basket he set aside for me.

That was part of our deal. He knew I wouldn't accept living with him since he couldn't afford to take care of a teenager as well. So all he asked was that I let him do laundry and I remember that his home is always open to me. (A/N: I know this seems weird, but for the story pretend it isn't)

I left him a note every day always thanking him for his generosity. I never took Mr. Lee's food, though. He needed it more than me.

After I finished quietly getting ready, I started on my way to school. My leg ached, but I forced myself to not limp and to just get to school.

I got to the Subway and used my year-long pass. I bought it after getting my first paycheck from Delmars.

The Subway trip took about ten minutes. Today, a new boy I hadn't seen before got on at the stop after me. He had blonde hair and looked shy. He looked in my direction and I quickly looked away.

At the next stop, I saw an older lady get on. I quickly stood up and offered her my seat.

"Thank you, dear. God bless you." She said. I smiled warmly at her.

This left me standing next to the other boy. We stood in silence, waiting for our stop. The Subway lurched forwards and I lost my balance. I started to fall backward, but an arm stopped me.

"You okay?" He asked and I nodded.

"Thanks to you," I said smiling.

We went back to silence, waiting to get off. I was surprised when he got off at my stop.

I didn't pay much attention to it until he said something.

"Hey, umm, do you think you could help me really quick?" He asked nervously.

"What's up?" I said as I turned around.

"I just moved here and I'm heading to Midtown Tech, but I don't know where exactly it is. Can you point me in the right direction?" He said.

"I'm heading there myself! Just follow me." I said.

"Thanks. I'm Wade, by the way, Wade Wilson!" He said.

"Peter Parker!" I replied.

My leg hurt more with each step. I knew I needed to do something more than wrap an old shirt around it, but I don't exactly have access to many supplies.
