I realize how tired I am, and let myself fall asleep.
Peter POV
"Hello is this Peter Parker?" A woman's voice asks me.
"Yes, this is. What can I do for you?" I ask her.
"I am calling from Queens Hospital on the behalf of Mr. Stan Lee. We are pleased to inform you that he is showing signs of improvement. It is too early to say if he'll make a full recovery, but the doctors believe he will in time." She says. A smile crosses my face.
"Thank you. Thank you so much. Am I able to come see him?" I ask.
"Unfortunately, he is still to prone to outside infections. We understand it's hard to wait, but -" I cut her off.
"No no, I get it. I don't want to get him sick. Thank you for the update." I say.
"Thank you for your time, Mr. Parker. Have a good day." A soft click indicates she hung up.
After a week had passed filled with radio silence from the hospital, this was the best news I could ask for given the circumstances.
I walk back into class.
"Thank you for letting me step out, Mrs. Andrews. That call was very important for me." She smiles and nods.
"Good news, I'm assuming?" Wade asks when I sit back down.
"As good as it can be. They say that he's improving and there's a much higher chance for a full recovery." I say. Wade smiles at me.
"I'm glad to hear it. Are you still grounded or can we hang out today?" He asks.
"I'm grounded until Monday. Dad and Pops were pretty upset that I left." I say. He sighs.
"We can't hang out this weekend? I wanted to take you on a date." He says. I shrug.
"You'll have to take it up with them," I say. He smiles.
"Maybe I will." I frown.
"What? No, Wade. Don't do that. That will just make them angrier." I say.
"Too late. The idea has been planted. It's already growing." He says. I shake my head.
"Eugene. You know the rules. No phones in class." I look up and see Mrs. Andrews standing by Flash's desk.
"First of all, it's Flash. Second, no. Penis got to have his phone out. Why shouldn't I be able to have mine out?" Flash whines.
"First of all, Eugene, his name is Peter. Second, Peter received a call from the hospital. If you receive a call from the hospital, I will allow you to have your phone out." Mrs. Andrews says. Flash sighs and hands her his phone.
"Thank you, Mr. Thompson. You can get your phone back at the end of the day." She says. Flash starts to protest, but she cuts him off with a glare.
The bell rings and everyone files out of the classroom and heads to their next class.
"Hey, Peter! Hey Wade!" Ned says.
"Sup, losers," MJ says.
"Hey, guys!" We wave.
"Guys, the hospital called," I say.
"Is that a good 'the hospital called' or a bad 'the hospital called'?" Ned asks.
"It's a good 'the hospital called' I think. They said that he's improving a lot and that they believe there's a much higher chance for a full recovery." I say.
"That's awesome, dude!" Ned says.
"I'm really happy to hear that, Peter. He's an amazing person." MJ says.
