Chapter 13
Mate.
The word rang through the pack link, no longer a private realisation. My eyes widened and I looked at Tristan incredulously. I felt Jason's shock through our mating link, and when I looked over his shoulder to Georg, I saw the same shock reflected in his eyes.
"What?" Half the room exclaimed.
The other half sat in a stony silence, blankly staring at the floor.
Ani leapt up from her seat, squealing, "TRISTAN! You twerp! Why didn't you tell me you were homo? I'd have taken you shopping weeks ago! Oh this explains so much! Remember the time I was wearing those red shoes with the orange dress and you told me I looked-"
"Ani!" Nixon hushed her, pulling her against his chest and covering her mouth with his hand, "Not the time."
Tristan and Georg were still ogling each other. Tristan's face looked caught between wonderment and confusion, whereas Georg's looked... disgusted.
This better not go down the way I think it might. I hissed to Jason through the link.
The pack's confusion was rebounding through the pack mentality, questions flying about as they gossiped and giggled. Using my alpha control, I shut them all off from those of us in the room, sealing our thoughts in with each other's.
"You... you're my... I don't... how? I can't... I am not ..." Georg stuttered, his eyes flashing around the room, disbelief and distrust showing clear on his face.
Tristan seemed unsure, he cautiously took one step towards Georg, nearly dropping the now-awake Blake as he forgot everything else.
"Watch it, mongrel!" Blake hissed at him, scampering up his shoulder, "Besides, I get a say in this too!"
He did a pirouette on Tristan's shoulder, peering at Georg judgementally.
Tristan took another step gingerly, only to freeze when Georg backed up. "Did I do something...?" Tristan trailed off, confusion clear in his eyes.
Ani was bouncing up and down in Nixon's arms, and I wasn't sure if she was excited or grumpy.
"I'm no homo or anything, but that guy could totally turn me." Blake whistled, staring appreciatively at Georg.
Georg went so red that for a moment, I thought he'd gained some of Blake's colour changing abilities.
And shape changing, too. The voice reminded me, Sure, there's a couple of gays, whatever, its 2015. Get over it. We need to focus on the wolf-lizard-no-homo-thing.
I ignored it, watching the events fold out before me, as Georg turned on his heel and sprinted out of the room and out of sight.
Tristan collapsed to the ground in a mess, quietly staring at the floor.
"Not cool bro!" Xavier called after Georg, before bursting into laughter, "Omg! I so called it!"
"Xavier, get out if you're going to laugh!" I chastised him, "And you did not call it! You were shipping him and Macy just like the rest of us!"
"Macy..?" Tristan looked heartbroken.
I get it, His thoughts passed through the room, unaware that we could hear, He's not interested in me. He's even dating a woman.
