Chapter Five

Deal Or No deal

The Living Room was soaked in heavy silence and thick tension, Kurenai kept her gun close to her, never taking her hand off the cold metal, now sitting on the counter instead of her crouch. Solara was safe-for now, dropping her stance and sitting in an empty chair, quiet and observing.

It seemed like Kurenai and Draco already had many conversations without words just from the looks they gave each other, nobody knew what to do. So they waited until one of them did.

Finally she spoke, "Did you have to beat up Rook like that? He was just doing his job." Kurenai asked, looking at the man who was still unconscious in the chair. Draco didn't like this question, he didn't like Kurenai being concerned for another man.

"You care about snitches now?" Draco asked, calmly walking closer to her now sitting figure.

"He was our informant, we needed him!" She defended not liking his tone, but his tone was the least of her worries.

"Needed him huh?" His jaw flexed, "You sound soft for a man you only 'needed' or was it more than that? You sleepin' wit'  him?" He asked, waiting for her to say yes so he could put a bullet through the man's skull once and for all.

Solara's breath hitched, eyes widening at him accusing her best friend of such a thing, Kurenai made it very clear from the get go she wasn't interested in dating or even just hooking up anymore. Even though she didn't say it, Kurenai was still in love at least when she first met her, so she feared how her friend would react to the audacity of this accusation.

"You deadass right now? You wanna go there?" Kurenai's voice was low and ice cold, her posture straightening. She was locked into the interaction ready to defend herself, she might've left him, but her morals never changed.

Draco stayed silent, gaze never straying away from her, nostrils flaring in rage as he replayed possible interactions and moments between the two. and she scoffed. "You really think I slept with him?" She asked, trying not to yell. "That's why you did this? You mad cause we had someone who could feed us crumbs to get by?" Kureni raised an eyebrow waiting for an answer.

"You went AWOL Kurenai, then started doing hits in my territories, had him feeding you my plays and going against them. Only an insider would have access to the people you've been taking out. That's not crumbs. That's a shit ton more." Draco got even closer to her, the tensions rising in the room, his inching closer caused Kurenai to stand up and stand her ground proving she wasn't the scared little teen he first met.

"So that means I'm sleeping with him?" Kurenai challenged.

"I think you forgot who taught you what you know." He tells her. Kurenai looked in his eyes, ignoring her rapidly beating heart as she continued on. "Aw you're jealous aren't you? That's what this is about huh?" To any other this would've sounded like her teasing, but Draco knew her teasing and this wasn't that. She was cold and distant with her words, she was undermining his true purpose being here.

The silence from Draco egged Kurenai on, a sharp and hollow laugh coming from her, "So what about your girl over there then? Nyla right?" Kurenai asked and the room felt like it dropped to negative degrees. A chill running through Draco's people, especially Nyla who pretended to be unphased.

They were careful, but not careful enough. They had been made and didn't even know it.

Draco wished he could be proud of her skills, but the anger inside him was much greater, Kurenai adding fuel to fire by accusing one of his workers of being his girl. She knew better than to ever think that title was ever given away.
