"You shouldn't be here." A gruff voice, belonging to Easton Angel, said.

"Who said so?" Aurelia responded, not shaken at all by the sudden company. She was used to people sneaking up on her. And she also knew that Easton Angel was nothing but trouble so she always decided to steer clear.

"Ahhh, Aurelia. To what do I owe this pleasure in escorting you back home in this weather?" Aurelia realized that Easton had been assigned as the weather patrol. She turned around to look at him and hopped off the ledge. Easton had light brown hair and light brown eyes as well. Just like her. But that was where the resemblance stopped. There was nothing similar about them, as it should be because they were not siblings. Easton was taller than Aurelia and he had sharp facial features. And to top all that off, he was an absolute pain in the ass.

"You don't have that pleasure. Only I have the liberty of escorting myself home. No one else can do that. You should know that by now Easton." The thing was, Easton and Aurelia's parents knew each other. So they were practically family. Aurelia shuddered at that thought.

Easton's amused expression softened.

"Aurelia." He whispered. To say that Aurelia was surprised would have been an understatement. Since when was Easton nice to her? He only cared about his weird jock friends and Zara.

"My mother would want you to stay with us, you know. She does. She told me to tell you in case I saw you or at school." Easton said. Aurelia knew that of course. Mrs Angel had offered Aurelia and her brother that option when their mother died. And when her brother went as well, Mrs Angel had practically begged her to stay with the Angels. But that was not who Aurelia was. She couldn't rely on anybody after what she had been through. She had to learn to fend for herself. And she was doing absolutely fine.

"I know. But I don't need your pity. I'm seventeen. I can fend for myself. I'm a lone wolf now, Easton. I don't need to rely on anybody." Aurelia said, looking away from Easton's intense eyes and looking out the window.

"Of course I know-" Aurelia cut him off by opening the door and walking out, right into the rain. She didn't need Easton Angel to look at her with pity. She didn't need it at all. Her thoughts were cut when someone grabbed her wrist roughly.

"AURELIA!" Easton yelled. Since when was Easton allowed to boss her around. He didn't even talk to her before today.

"Let go of me you fool! I said I don't want your pity!" Aurelia screamed.

"Aurelia please. Come back into the rain shelter, and be reasonable about this. You're going to catch a cold." Easton pleaded. Aurelia looked at him as though he were abducted by aliens. She could just imagine him with green antennas, blabbering gibberish as though he were drunk. The thought brought a smile to her face.

"Why are you smiling?!" Easton question-yelled. There was the Easton she knew and absolutely loathed.

"You have a green face." And that's all she said before yanking her wrist out of his grasp and disappearing into the storm.
