Shikatani jumps on Itome, nuzzling into his shoulder gently as he let out soft whimpering noises.
Itome blushes and pets Shikatani, stroking him gently. They were in the throes of their fluffy little romantic moment when-
"Hey! Did you listen to a word i just said?!"
The two lovebirds hear themselves hailed by the tiny little club president, standing behind them with a clearly annoyed expression on his face and his hands on his hips. Itome smiles apologetically at his best friend.
"I'm sorry...could you repeat that?"
"Meet in the club room after lunch >:( you're welcome and enjoy your date!" The blond haired boy chirps as he leaves with that innocent grin on his face, typical of classic Akemi Keiichi fashion.
Finally, the end of lunch bell rings, signalling a stop to the couple's romance film. Heading over to the club room, Shikatani could only focus on the beautiful aspects of Itome's face.
He's so pretty and adorable, even more than I am. Shikatani takes a deep breath that doesn't quite reach his lungs which were by then throbbing with the impact.
Throughout the entire club meeting, Shikatani focussed on Itome's beautiful face. Despite Shikatani's holding Itome's hand and nuzzling into his shoulder, Itome doesn't seem to notice the intimacy of it all at all, instead focusing on the little speech Akemi had prepared for the club, yet another lewd activity(if it could even be called an activity, then supposedly so). Itome was adorable, and so, so, cute. He was charismatic and his gentle voice and soft lisp could make anyone swoon.
Why can't you get the hint? Why can't you already get that i like you? Shikatani thought to himself, It's weird really, how the most fucking obvious hints are always blind to the human eye that spends so much time looking out for minute details that it neglects the obviousness of the hints deliberately dropped.
Then Shikatani had a wild thought.
What if i confessed my love to him-and confessed today?
It was one of those thoughts—the ones that grow stronger and come back harder no matter how much you attempt to will it away. The more Shikatani thought about Itome, the more he thought about it.
When the club meeting was over, Shikatani rushes back to his dorm before even taking a second glance at the club members and forgetting to say goodbye in his rush. He pulls out a piece of loose-leaf paper and begins to write on it.
Dear Itome,
I really like you. I don't know if you have sensed it already, because i've dropped pretty obvious hints, if i do say so myself. Come meet me at the rooftop after dinner.
Love,
your secret admirer
* * *
When Itome checked his locker later in the evening, he was surprised to see the envelope at the back of his locker. He pulled out the note, reread it, and headed straight to the rooftop, his head spinning with bewilderment. A secret admirer! Never in his life had he been admired by anyone before. Sure, he had led a relatively comfortable life, but no one had ever loved him loved him in that way.
Pushing open the door, he was surprised to see Shikatani sitting there, waiting for him long enough. Itome could only stare at his friend-or was it boyfriend?-in shock. "You...liked me?"
"You're so dumb at the best of times."
Before Itome could make a playful retort, by the time his mind caught up with him, Shikatani pulled Itome towards him and kissed him.(A/N phew! finally done...i used to have a crush on a girl at school who was my best friend since when we were both first years before i got a gf, and i always gave them the most obvious signs that i liked them-hugging, kissing, helping with schoolwork-but they never seemed to get the hint. I wanted to write something based on that! this probably is one of my longest fanfics, with 500+ words. (and around 700+ with the author's note included). anyway, i hope you enjoyed all the same! -hu tao
p.s my keyboard officially has "i hope you enjoyed" as a phrase)
