-Danny's POV-

I got up from the hospital bed and crossed the room to shut the door. As soon as the door had shut, I heard Kellin let out a sob, I also noticed that she had rolled onto her stomach and had buried her head into her arms. I quickly went to the bed and got on my knees so I could be eye-level with her. I gently placed my hand on the small of her back as to not startle her. She quickly looked up, her eyes still shining with unshed tears. "Danny? but-but I thought y-you had l-left.." she struggled to say through her sobs.
"I didn't mean for you to think that. Kellin, I'm not going to leave you, especially not like this. Wait, I don't mean that I feel bad for you and feel obligated to stay, no. I want to stay with you. I really like you, Kellin. I want to help you through your recovery. I'll be your support. Paul will be here for you, too." I glance up past Kellin at the door to see that Paul had come in. "Won't you, Paul?"
"Oh, yea. I'll be here for you and help you with whatever you need." He responded, looking at Kellin.
A big smile appeared on the girl's face. "Thanks guys." She looked exhausted. Dark circles had formed under her eyes and her smile seemed weak and forced.
"Kellin, Paul and I are going to go and get something to drink. You should get some rest. Sleep tight."
"Okay, Dad." She said, being sarcastic. I silently chuckled before kissing her temple and heading out the door, Paul following close behind me. As soon as I closed the door, I was confronted by Kellin's father. Shit.
        "Hello, Mr. Bostwick."
        "Daniel."
        "I-It's just 'Danny', actually.."
"Do I look like I give a shit? I don't care what your name is. I want you to stay away from my daughter."
"Not to undermine your authority or anything... but you can't exactly tell me what to do. You aren't my parent. And frankly, I don't think taking away Kellin's only friends is going to help her situation."
"Listen here, sonny. You will stay away from Kellin willingly, or else I will file for a restraining order. She's a good kid. She's nice. She will make new friends that are a hell of a lot better than you two punks. Now, you have about five seconds to get out of here. I will deal with Kellin." He put his hand on the door handle and began to turn it.
"Wait. She's asleep. Kellin really needs her rest. She's lost a lot of blood. Please, just don't wake her up yet."
"Fine, okay. I won't wake her up. But I want to be clear, I don't want to see you even looking at my daughter." I slowly nodded my head in defeat and left the hospital with Paul at my side.

*Kellin's POV*

I woke up to the sound of a door opening. The person standing in the doorway was not who I was expecting: my father. "What are you doing here? Where's Danny?"
"I'm sorry sweetheart, Danny wanted me to tell you that he didn't want to be seen with you. He said he couldn't stand the thought of being with someone who's broken and just begging for attention."
        "H-he said that?"
"I'm sorry honey. He's a no-good punk. He was just trying to be nice. He pitied you because you were the new girl who had social problems. Once he found out that you cut your damn wrist, he wanted nothing to do with you anymore. He just put on an act until he was able to get away. He told me to tell you - and I quote - 'Tell that bitch to stay the fuck away from me. She's just an attention seeking whore. I definitely don't want to be associated with a whiny bitch who cuts herself.'"
Tears welled up in my eyes as I took everything in. "Uhm, I'm just going to get some sleep now, you know, to recharge. You and mom should go home and get some sleep. I'm sure visiting hours are almost over, anyways."
"Your mother and I will be here as soon as we get off of work tomorrow. Expect us around 5." My father came over to the side of my bed and kissed my forehead before exiting the room. Once the doors closed, I let out the pain I had been holding inside. As the tears streamed down my cheeks, I layed back and sank into my pillow. A little while later, I opened my eyes to see the night-nurse rush over to my bedside with wide eyes. Her eyes were trained in my wrists. I looked down. There was blood all over the bed sheet. I noticed my bandages had been torn off and the wounds had been reopened. The realization crossed my mind: I had subconsciously scratced at my skin as I slept. The nurse hurriedly ran and got fresh bandages to rewrap my forearms. This time, she put tape around the gauze so I wouldn't be able to accidentally tear through the wrap again. About five minutes after she exitted my room, my doctor came in.
"Kellin, it's nice to see you awake. I'm Dr. Simmons" I gave a small wave. "Good news: you'll be discharged tomorrow morning, we'll take care of calling your parents so they can sign you out as you are still a minor." I nodded my head. "I'll leave you to get some rest"
The next morning, my parents came and checked me out of the hospital. They took me straight home and left for work. I have today to myself, but tomorrow is a whole different story...
