Fair Trade

"Oh, Dwight?" Jake paused and thought for a moment. "I think he said he was going to speak to the Entity."

"Where do I go for that?" you questioned, frustration evident.

Jake simply pointed to an area beyond the campfire. This direction was opposite of the cabins and harbored murky clouds in the distance. No matter how you squinted there wasn't a single distinguishable feature in the distance.

"How far do I go?"

The male survivor shrugged.

Great. Guess you were on your own for this.

Shoving a hand in your pocket, you fished out an item: the second tooth from your time with Wraith. You'd saved it back...just in case. Now was as good a time as any to sacrifice this one. You weren't aware there was a specific place to speak with the Entity. Usually, when you wanted to trade, you put the item on your cabin's dresser at night and went to bed with a prayer. It sounded so silly but this "tooth fairy-like" event actually worked.

Squeezing the blood flecked tooth in your fingers, you set off towards the bleak horizon.

What would be best to fight against Ji-woon? An aura reading ability? A powerful item? Maybe you could beg the Entity not to ever put you in a game with him? That didn't seem likely though. From what Nea described, the Entity loved carnage and favored the killers. If anything, you imagined you'd be facing your murderer once again quite soon. If you could sacrifice for something then so could he.

A narrow path of dirt lead you onwards, rubble and bones mixed in with the dust. They looked like broken totems...

It was growing darker the further you walked and you wrapped both arms around your side. The hairs on your neck were standing up again, much like when the Trapper was near. There was just this twisting in your gut but only with the bear like hunter. You hadn't experienced that specific feeling with any other killer. Releasing a puff of breath, you quickened pace and the feeling gradually began to fade.

Weird. You'd have to investigate it further later. Or maybe ask Dwight if you ever found him!

This abandoned road seemed to go on forever and you began to wonder if that asshole Jake had just pranked you, sending you on a wild goose chase.

Eventually, the path did widen into a small clearing devoid of all life. Not a single blade of grass. Just broken bones littering the dusted ground. In the center stood a blackened tree with thin, twisted limbs. The gnarled wood stretched towards the sky, mimicking the look of those tendrils you would see whenever someone was sacrificed.

This had to be it. But where was Dwight?

Peering in every direction, you inched forward with small steps. Something that caught you off guard were the various other pathways branching outwards. Where did those lead?

As you neared the roots of the tree, a barrage of whispering erupted in your ears. The last time you'd heard anything like it was when you first died. Tilting your head curiously, you softly spoke out. "H-hello...?"

"Hello."

"W-woah!" startled, you jumped back. You hadn't actually expected anyone to answer.
