Pristine silver hair that looked like violin strings that could bring about a beautiful melody and the gold smelted eyes that captivated everyone in sight at her beastly eyes. With just a gaze she'd scare you away, but the story that will be told tells nothing of a happy ending.

A place so dark and gloomy you could hear the water drops fall from the bent up ceiling that arched towards the small child that sat there with an unjustified reason. She'd been waiting in that same spot for years, never moving until she was told to.

"Mommy and daddy will be back soon, ok? We just have some unfinished business to attend to,"

She would have stopped her but the little girl couldn't, her mother only assured her that she would return, but what if she didn't return? She watched her mother disappear into the bright alley where she would meet her mother once more. She waited endlessly where her mother had told her to wait, where the snow never fell and it was never warm or cold, near the air conditioner of another's home.

She was fed by those that pitied her as well as washed by the rain that fell from the

But...

"Mother?" Her eyes froze with fear and sadness, she couldn't discern between the two when she saw her mother's body in the alley, pale and cold. On that day it was snowing, the snowflakes smothered, the girl looking at her mother's body with bruises all over her.

Her heart stopped while the snowflakes fell instead of the tears full of sadness and bitterness. "Hey Boss, what happened to that play thing you threw away earlier? got tired already?"

"Nah, she was sweet but boy did she think of escaping with my fortune, she said someone was waiting for her, tch. I made it so that person would see her and never think of touching me again," They huffed, puffing out their chests the macho way, Xiao Ai couldn't help but just stare.

[the world has always been this cold and ugly...] she thought simply brushing away the loose strands of her mother's frail and cold body and kissing her forehead with her dry and numb lips.

[I forgot...humans are all like this...] Xiao Ai stood there unmoving as the small and cold snowflakes fell on her small delicate body that was starving, frozen in time and silently heartbroken. She wanted to her mother many things, how her day went, what the neighbor did to her the other day and the kids she started to talk to -- but it all fell to ashes. Those dreams and hopes she wished to share ever so happily with the one person she cared about vanished.

Hours went by as the snow kept getting worse, [what's the point of life..? I don't have anyone precious anymore, should I just die along with my mother? That would be a better choice...hm?] as she had already been buried into the 6 inch snow she heard heavy footsteps.

"Ooh~ look what we got here!" A voice gushed in surprise, from that day she was taken in and trained as a soldier, no purpose, no life, no goals. She just simply obeyed because she didn't care nor did anyone else, the inside of her heart was frozen over with glazed ice that would never see the nice warm summer breeze that melted the snow and the ice.

"Hah..! Ha! Heeyah!" Xiao Ai managed to overcome the difficulties and became a soldier of the military at the age of 18 and spent all of her life there until she turned 21. The loss of her mother at the age of 9 had made her numb to all her emotions except loyalty.

Would everything have turned out different if she hadn't lost her? Or perhaps someone reached out to her like her mother once did? What would've changed then?
