Chapter 7: Mortis' Mortuary

Team Recap! We have Colt, Spike, Edgar, Colette, Jessie, Pam, The Mystic, Old Town, Super Hero, and Retropolis Trios!

Colette leads the group "This one's an obvious one, right?" She asks the bunch, Gene starts his gibberish. "He's saying that it was pretty obvious." Sandy continues to translate for both Gene and Tara. "Well, we're at the mortuary now... Not exactly my cup of tea..." Piper speaks up, she doesn't like the aura it's giving off.

Flashes of light can be seen in the corner of their eyes. *click* *click* EMZ is out, taking selfies of herself again. "Hello, EMZ!" Colette approaches her. "Oh, hi, Colette." EMZ responds "It's, like, so great to see you! Aren't you one of my biggest followers?" "Yes! Yes, I am!" Colette replies. "She knows her way to talk to any brawler, huh." Barley speaks up. "Yes, she said before, she knows every brawler like the back of her palm." Byron adds.

"I wish I could be like EMZ..." Edgar said. "So, what? You want to take selfies all day?" Bibi asks. "No. I want to be dead, just like the trio here..." Edgar replies. Everyone gives him a weird look. "A-Anyways!" Colt tries to change the topic. "Let's get back to our original business!" Colt then proceeds to approach Colette and EMZ who are taking a selfie together.

Colt accidentally gets a bit of himself in the shot. "Hey! You, like, definitely just photo-bombed us." EMZ turns to Colt. "Ah! Sorry! I was here to remind Colette why we were here." "Oh yeah!" Colette suddenly remembers. "EMZ, where's your uncle?" She asks. "At the graveyard, like always." EMZ responds. "Oh, I am taking a hard pass!" Piper speaks up. "M-me too..." Jessie joins in, scared. "Awh, kiddo, I'll stay here with you." Pam reassures Jessie.

"Well, that's settled." Max said. The brawlers head to the graveyard. EMZ looks around. "I'll, uhm... Join them too." EMZ gets up and follows them. Mortis is indeed at the grave yard, digging up a new grave, humming a tune. "Uncle! These guys wanted to see you!" EMZ calls out "Aha! What brings you guys here?" Mortis turns to the bunch.

"Mortis..." Edgar starts "Is that grave something for one of us?" "Not necessarily." Mortis replies "Well, we need to know if you've found a VHS tape of any sort." Max exclaimed "I'm sorry but I have not." Mortis continues answering their questions. "Ugh, hashtag obsolete!" EMZ speaks up. Mortis continues digging up the grave but hits something hard. "Huh?" He's confused.

Mortis bends down to brush off the dirt and reveals another tape "Oh, what a coincidence." He exclaims "That's another one we're looking for!" Meg speaks up "Are you sure you guys didn't, like, just place it there while we weren't looking?" EMZ asks "No! Promise!" Colette responds. Max snatches the tape from Mortis' hands and inserts it in Surge's player.

The tape starts playing, the present brawlers take a close look at it, while prioritizing Colette to look at it. "Here is magic!" The video says "That's not our next clue, that looks like our current location." Colette exclaims. "Here is pleasure!" the video continues "The arcade?" Colette theorizes.

"Here is where dreams are made!" The video says while crashing sounds play. Gene and Tara make more mumbling sounds. "Huh!?" Sandy awakens, he has fallen asleep without noticing. "Was that in the video or did something happen?" Sandy continues. Colt looks around "No, nothing seems to have happened." "Thank, god!" Mortis exclaims

"By the way, Colette, are you saying the next location could be in the arcade?" Edgar asks "Yeah, though the information was very subtle." Colette answered. "Well, we should be going." Colt starts, "Wait up! I'd like to come with." Mortis interrupts the crew "Who knows? We might need to bring back a dead body or two." He says with a smug expression.

"Ack, that gives me bad vibes..." Sandy says "ARE YOU IMPLYING ONE OF US IS GOING TO DIE!!????" Colt says, shivering. "Mortis! Don't do that!" Max stands up. "Sorry, sorry!" Mortis apologizes, "You just never know." Colt continues to shiver, "Alright, stop the jokes, lets go." Meg says, walking out of the area.

"Uncle, I'm coming too!" EMZ speaks up, "This is going to be, like, so awesome. It's definitely something people want to see on my blogs." "Well, if that's what you want, why not?" Mortis answers to his niece. "Our next stop is the arcade!" Colette says, leading the whole group. They find Piper, Jessie and Pam still waiting.

"Thank goodness you sweeties are back."Piper says "I'm sure it's a relief!" Pam joins in the conversation. "Jessie was getting scared of the ghosts." she chuckles after. "What?" Mortis starts his reply "There are no such ghosts in my mortuary! I think..." Mortis continues. Colt joins Jessie by being scared with her. "Ahahaha..." Edgar tries to lighten the mood, he fails.

"Where are we heading again?" EMZ asks "The arcade, didn't you hear?" Colette says, "yaaaaaaawn, let's just go." Sandy says "I can't stand stalling in discussion any longer." His eyes getting heavier by the second. "Anyone strong enough to carry him?" Bibi asks everyone "I'll take it." Pam says, "I've had experience with sleeping kids before." She picks him up and keeps him on her back.

Everyone starts to walk away from the mortuary and starts heading to the arcade.
