Hello all! It's been awhile! I've decided to post a few ficlets I wrote as a way to try and revive my muse. The good news is, it worked! So I'm hoping to get a longer story out soon!
Thank you so so much for reading, voting and commenting on my work! I may not always reply but I see them all and I appreciate you all!
As always, this has not been beta read.
I'm really interested to know if you'll be able to tell who's pov I had in mind writing the first two? Let me know what you think or if it's obvious <3
_________________________________________Waiting.
He wanted to tell him how much he loved him but knew it wasn't the right time. So he would wait. If there was one thing he was good at it was pushing down his feelings. The days came and went like the tide of the ocean and yet, he waited. There were times when the urge to say it was almost too much to bear, when the longing to scream I love you! I love you so goddamn much! nearly choked him. Still, he waited. Waited for the perfect time, there would be one, there was a perfect time for everything; all he needed to do was wait. The time never came. He waited too long.

Chemistry.
The kiss reminded him of chemistry lessons in school, when if the right two elements were put together, they'd explode. As his attention snagged on the elderly couple his heart squeezed in admiration and jealousy. Seeing a couple of their age still smitten and adoring enough to warrant public displays of affection gave him hope, but also broke his heart just a little if he was honest. That kind of love - movie love - was something he always longed for, the kind of thing that lasted a lifetime and beyond. He wanted it more than anything. With a final glance and a bittersweet smile he tore his attention away from the couple and back onto the game. Watching the geriatric mens softball team brought back memories of three year olds playing t-ball. Tempers were flaring, uniforms didn't fit right, at least half the players wandered off the field for an unscheduled snack break, and almost no one had succeeded at actually hitting the ball. Despite all of that, it was still fun to watch. Or, at least, it should have been. His attention kept straying to the couple in front of him. Though they hadn't kissed again he could still see evidence of their fondness. Hands clasped together between them, a head tilted onto a shoulder, whispered words into ears and soft giggles; the pair were clearly the best of friends above all else. His heart squeezed again but not out of jealousy this time, but of recognition. As if saying I know how that is, I've loved my best friend for years too. He just hoped that many years down the road, when they were both gray and life was forcing them to slow down, they would still look at one another the way those two still did. He couldn't imagine a reality where his pulse didn't spike and his head didn't spin when he looked at his best friend. The thought that someday he would look into those eyes and not see entire universes filled with adoration and longing and an all consuming rightness was inconceivable. He knew that no matter what, in this lifetime and the next, he would forever love his best friend. Astonishingly enough, he knew the man felt the same way. They were in for the trip of a lifetime, yet.

Petals.
It was a miracle he wasn't late. He had spent the last forty-five minutes trying on every piece of clothing he had, trying to find the perfect combination. Though it was hard to know what that was considering he had such little information to go off of. All he knew was that Eddie had left a note saying to meet him at the planetarium at eight for a private show. Fed up, he had settled on a buttoned shirt and nice jeans and just prayed it would be enough. The entire drive Buck had wracked his brain for answers as to how Eddie had managed to book a private viewing of the planetarium. Did anyone but celebrities even do things like that?
He expected security and metal detectors at the door but instead he was met with a path of red and white rose petals, hundreds of tea light candles lining it on either side. Delicately, as to not crush the soft petals, Buck followed where the flowers intended him to go. By the time the elevator dinged its way to the top floor his heart was racing in anticipation with what he would find when the doors opened. It took his breath away. There were more petals, but this time they were joined by hundreds of whole roses, a sea of red and white, each bouquet with a single yellow flower in the middle. Walking down the center aisle, Buck felt tears stinging the back of his throat as he made his way to the front of the room. Resting on a small table adorned with candles sat a chilled bottle of champagne, more yellow rose petals, and a note with his name scrawled on the front. With shaking hands he picked up the paper and unfolded it to find Eddie's loopy, messy handwriting.
One petal for every day I've loved you. One candle for every time your smile has lit up my world. One star for every day I wish to spend with you. For every bouquet of red and white there is a yellow bud of friendship at its center. For my best friend.
There's a message for you if you look up.Buck was shaking so hard with tears he could hardly read the last line written. Blowing out a breath to try and control himself, he tipped his head back and looked up. Written in the stars were the words Will you marry me? As a sob escaped his lips, Eddie stepped out from a doorway and made his way to Buck. "Eddie, I-" Shaking hands reached to cup Eddie's face. "I can't believe you did all of this." Eddie brushed his thumb across the tears on Buck's face. "Do you like it?" A wet laugh slipped through Buck's lips. "God, Eddie. Yes, I love it. I love you. I would be honored to marry you." Now tears were slipping from both pairs of eyes. "I love you so much." Eddie whispered as his chin wobbled. The same moment Eddie leaned forward and connected their lips a meteor shower exploded overhead.

Jellyfish
It had never entered his head that his son was not his own blood. Why would it? He knew for certain that he was Christopher's father. Even still, at times it was hard not to dwell on just how little his son was like him. It was a good thing really. Where Eddie was quiet and, admittedly, a little emotionally closed off, Christopher was free with his love and laughter and was more than willing to give them to anyone who wanted them. Just like someone else Eddie knew. It still surprised him sometimes how much of a carbon copy Chris seemed to be of Buck. They shared so many things, from their giant hearts to their insatiable curiosity, all the way down to their curly blonde heads. Eddie was forever seeing doubles. That was perfectly fine with him. If Christopher grew up to be half the man Buck was, he would consider himself the luckiest person alive.
The sound of Christopher's peels of laughter followed by Buck's deep rumbles broke Eddie from his train of thought. The pair were charging toward him at an unsettling speed, Buck running with Christopher thrown over his shoulder. Buck skidded to a stop inches before running into Eddie, nearly doubling over laughing. He sat Chris on his feet but kept a supporting hand on his arm until he knew his crutches were stable. "What was that all about?" Eddie was trying to wear his stern no-running-in-the-aquarium look but it was hard with how big the smiles of his boys were. "Buck is a chicken!" Christopher supplied helpfully. Indignant. That was the look on Buck's face. "I am not!" He crossed his arms feigning offense which only made the kid laugh more. "What really happened was Chris and I were over there checking out the fish, the cool blue ones - did you know that they can actually remember faces? We wanted to make sure they saw us really well so when we come back they'll know who we are. Anyway, we were talking to the blue fish but then I kept feeling like I was being watched and I tried to ignore it but I became paranoid that the school of jellyfish was spying on me. So I grabbed Chris and we ran away." Eddie's nose itched with the urge to laugh. He puckered his lips and nodded, serious. "I see. Chris was right, you are a chicken." Bucks mouth dropped open in betrayal and his arms dropped slack at his sides. "Eds, how could you take his side on this? You just don't understand. Jellyfish are even smarter than those blue fish. They remember faces and are smart enough to plot revenge." Eddie couldn't hold in his laughter any longer. "Why would the jellyfish want to get revenge on you?" Buck licked his lips, brow crinkling. "Well I don't know actually. That's not the point though! I'm saying they could if they wanted to." Both Eddie and Christopher were wheezing with laughter. "Fine. Forget it. But when the jellyfish come for you I won't be there to save you." Buck threw his nose up and stalked away like a self righteous peacock. Yeah, Eddie was already the luckiest person alive.
