Chapter 21

"Is Gabby ready?" my mother asked me?

"Yes, is everything ready in the church" I replied. My mother nodded, then she left the room. I turned and looked at Gabby, and she looked fucking amazing in her wedding dress; she wore a Beaded Brocade Embellished Mermaid dress. The dress was a Galina Signature. It clung to her, showing her curves; it had a long train and a veil that covered her face.

"You looking stunning" I smiled at her.

"This should have been your wedding, but thank you," she said.

"Alright, let's get you down the aisle; my brother is waiting," I told her. We all walked up to the door and waited. Being the maid of honor, I got to walk down the aisle, and so did Odell. I looked straight at Odell, and he was watching me, taking me all in. The bridesmaids wore a mint-colored short one-shoulder dress with a satin sash. I wore black pumps to go with it. He smiled at me, and my heart melted.

Over the past month, we've been getting closer, and I love watching him with our daughter. I've closed off my heart to him, though, letting him in enough to let him know that I care about him. He's been there for Avalon, and I appreciate how great a father is to Avalon. I can't let him back into my heart, and he has hurt me one too many times, even if I did love him.

The music started, and Odell and I walked to each other and then turned, so we faced the room. I hooked my arm around him, and we began walking down the aisle.

"I want this for us," he whispered.

I looked up at him, "I-I'm not ready." He looked down at me, and his eyes held so much sadness. He looked back up and continued walking. He did not say anything else as we walked; he avoided looking at me when we parted and took our places at the front. I know rejection was hard, but I can't; my heart literally can not take any more hurt.

The wedding went off without any problems, Gabby was now Gabby Alsina, and I had a new sister-in-law. I sat at the table next to Gabby; she and August were chatting away. Then they got up to do the bride and groom first dance. I used my fork and played with my food. Was it foolish of me to keep turning him down? Would he keep his word and be faithful to me? These questions kept running through my head, which kept me from saying yes to Odell.

"Can I have this dance" August spoke up? I looked up and saw that the bride and groom dance was over, and now others were starting to dance. I smiled and took August's hand, he led me to the dance floor, and we started to dance.

"What is troubling you," he asked? Of course, I should have known that he would try and pry information out of me; that is Aug for you. I was tired of holding back my feelings, and August was the best person I could rely on for advice.

"Honestly, Odell. He wants to marry me, but I'm not sure that he needs marriage. You know that he has hurt me before; I'm not sure he can stay committed to me. He had me, and then he tossed me away," I explained.

"That is a tough thing to decide what would be the best option," he said.

"What made you trust Gabby again? Why did you decide to take her back after the hurt she caused you" I asked? His eyes looked hurt for a split second, and then he smiled at me.

"I love her, and I knew I wanted her in my life. Yes, she hurt me, and yes, it still hurts. But I'm the happiest when I'm with her, well besides being with you" He smiled, which made me smile. "She is not perfect, and neither am I, but that is what love is. Two imperfect people come together and love each other, even if it does not work out in the end. It has to be a risk that you are willing to take," he admitted.

A risk that I'm willing to take. Am I willing to risk everything on Odell? Do I love him that much? I did not even think about that, and I love that man so much it hurt. August must have read my expression; he smiled. I opened my mouth to respond, but he twirled me out of his arms. It took me by surprise, and I lost my footing and was going to fall, but firm hands wrapped around my waist. Instead of falling, the person made it seem like he dipped me. I looked up and saw Odell looking down at me, and his eyes were intense. He was so handsome it took my breath away. He lifted me back up so that I was standing up.

"Can I have this dance?" he asked?

I smiled, "Of course you can." We started to dance; I rested my head against his chest, yes I only came up to his chest. "This is nice."

"It is. Being next to you is very relaxing," he said. He was being so gentle, but I could tell he was also on guard.

"Odell" I looked up at him, and he looked down at me. "I've been pushing you away, as you know. I've been scared that you'll hurt me again; it still scares me. But someone wise told me that two imperfect people are supposed to come together and love each other. And that if I loved you, I would have to take the risk. I started asking myself if you were worth the risk," I explained. He looked at me with so much hope.

"And," he said.

I smiled, "You are so worth the risk, Odell. I love you, and I want to be with you always".

He kissed me and then dropped down to one knee. The room suddenly got quiet. I looked around, and sure enough, everyone was watching. I found August and Gabby, and they were smiling so big, did they know?

"Ashlyn Alaina, I will try my hardest to make you the happiest woman in the world. Would you do me the utmost honor of becoming my wife" Odell proposed? I looked at him, and I could see so much love from his expression and his smile. Damn, his smile was fucking amazing.

"Yes, of course." He picked me up and kissed me, twirling me around. Yes, cliché, I know, but at that moment, I could care less about anything except Odell.

"Mama. Dada," Avalon said. We looked down, and Avalon headed our way, trying to walk.

"She's walking," I heard August call out. I bent down and held my hands out to her, she wobbled and fell and got back up, but she made it to my arms. I picked her up, and Odell held us both. I swear I heard the crowd make that "awe" sound. The music started back up, and Odell, Avalon, and I started dancing together. Other couples, including August and Gabby, got up and started dancing. After a while, we all sat back down, and the rest of the reception went off without any problems. We all were standing outside as August and Gabby got ready to leave. 

"Time to throw the bouquet," my mother announced. All the women got together to try and catch; I stood by Odell and watched. It will be my wedding one day, and I'll be doing this same thing. I reached out to take Avalon from Odell when the bouquet landed in my hands. I looked at Gabby, and she just smiled at me. She wanted me to be happy with Odell, and I wasn't going to let her down. August and Gabby got in the car and waved as they pulled off. We all waved back and watched until they were no longer in sight.

"Hey, Odell and Ashlyn. Can dad and I take Avalon home with us for the weekend? We want to take her shopping in the morning," my mother asked?

I smiled, "Sure." We took Avalon to my mother's car, hugged her, and kissed her goodbye. Odell took my hand, and we took his Charger back home.

We walked into the room and immediately started kissing and taking each other clothes off. We did not even make it to the bedroom, and we did it all right in the living room. He made me scream out in pleasure so many times, and hearing him moan turned me on. 

We ended in bed, cuddling together, catching our breath. After a while, we both fell asleep.
