Olivia ThorneToday we were paragliding something that both excited, and scared the shit out of me.
Getting to the private run way Adrian parked the car and we all walked away to towards the Biplane that would be carrying us up to the correct height.
"What's the difference between this and skydiving?" I ask looking up at Adrian.
"We aren't falling" he says and I nod though his statement doesn't calm me as much as it should.
Getting to where we're supposed to be, our instructor stood waiting explaining that at a certain height we all disconnect and glide back to the landing strip.
That was also the only instruction I remembered because the warnings of if something went wrong was not what I wanted to hear before being over a thousand feet in the air.
Getting to the gliders we put on our suits and got hooked onto it before waiting to go.
"You'd tell me if you were scared right" Adrian says and from the small smile on his lips I could tell he was asking a rhetorical question on purpose.
"I'm terrified" I say.
"I won't let anything happen to us besides were hooked on by a steel cord" he says gesturing to the safety line.
"That's not my worry I don't want to end up in the ocean" I state in desperation.
"As I said I won't let anything happen to us" he reminds me with a reassuring smile.
I then hear the engine of the plane turn on and a moment later we were rising up into the air away from the ground.
Glancing back I could see the line of five other gliders behind us each with a line that would let go of the glider in front of them.
Looking around I could see the desert, and Dubai, with Abu Dhabi in the other direction.
Pulling me from my reverie I felt the glider make a sharp turn and looked over to see Adrian smiling like a kid on Christmas, which made it hard to be mad at him even if he startled me.
As we glided around I began to get more comfortable of being up here travelling through the air with ease, which seemed to be something the others were also enjoying.
"Hold onto something" Adrian mutters and before I can ask what he means he tilts the glider so that it began to spin through the air in a spiral, along with changing directions until he leveled off the glider to slowly bring us back down to the ground.
"You enjoy thrill seeking a lot" I comment.
"I don't care, it's fun" he replies with a boyish smirk.
"You have to be a devil".
"And if I was".
"I guess I'm going to hell".
Adrian just laughs, "you and me both".
When we came in to land the glider skid to a stop, and I unfastened myself before walking away from the glider, soon followed by Adrian.
"That was amazing" I say looking back at him as he ran his fingers through his hair.
"Did you have fun, that's all I care about?" he asks unzipping the suit he wore, and removing it so that he could fold it, and give it back to the people who ran the glider trip.
"I did have fun lot's of it".
"That's good".
Adrian then unlocks the 720S that we had taken to get here and handed me the key.
