Andriette's P.O.V
I woke up the next morning, wanting to go back to sleep, but when I remembered that I was leaving that day, my adventures were about to begin, I jumped up and to my closet. I debated on what to wear before deciding on what I packed so I wouldn't have to change.I pulled out my dark purple tunic, my leggings, belt, and boots, remembering to put the belt around my waist over the tunic instead of around my pants like usual. I rushed to my bathroom and brushed my teeth before braiding my hair.
Usually, I just left my hair down, but just about all the viking girls I've seen had their hair in a braid, and I didn't want my hair in the way while I was flying.
There's something I never thought I would be able to think.
I grabbed my satchel and took one last look at my room, trying to memorize every little detail and push away the bittersweet feeling rising in my chest. I grabbed the letters and shut my bedroom door for the final time. On my way to the living room, I placed the notes to Bella and Naomi on their beds. I came into the living room, smiling slightly sadly, but it dropped when I saw Bella standing in the living room with her arms crossed and a smug look on her face. I immediately became suspicious.
What's she so smug about?
My silent question was answered when she pulled out a chunk of faintly glowing purple crystal. A kind of crystal that she only could have gotten if...
Anger burned through me for a hot second. "You found the cave."
Smug as a Terror who just got the last fish, my sister said, "Yup, sure did. I guess your little secret is no longer a secret."
I took a deep breath and reminded myself: It doesn't matter. I'm leaving today, so she can have the cave all for herself. I walked past her into the living room and sat down, pretending to not be bothered at all.
Her smile dropped. "You don't care that I know about your 'Secret Magic Cave'? And what are you wearing?"
I looked down at my clothes, remembering that I'd never worn this before.
"Clothes," I replied simply, enjoying her fuming expression as she marched off, probably to find Naomi.
Before I forgot, I rushed to put Mom's note under her blanket at the foot of the bed, so she would find it that night.
They say time flies when you're having fun, but it also flies when you're lost in your thoughts. The next thing I knew, I was waiting for the bus with Sarah for the last time.
When Sarah walked up to me, the first thing she did was ask about my outfit. To be honest, I probably did look weird between my clothes, my satchel on one shoulder, and my backpack with lightning on it on the other shoulder. To be completely honest, just my outfit in general was pretty weird. To be even more honest, just me in general is weird.
"Why are you wearing that?" She asked.
"I- uh... these were sitting in my closet and I wanted to wear them." I mean, it wasn't a lie, it just wasn't the whole truth.
"It looks really good on you," she complimented.
"Thanks." I'm gonna be wearing this a lot more often, soon, my mind finished.
I sat by the window again on the bus and took out my journal from my satchel. For the brief moment the satchel was open, Sarah must have seen my extra stuff because she asked, "Are you going somewhere?"
"Uh, yeah. I'm going on a trip after school."
She looked at me questionably. "Looks like a short trip."
