It's been a week since you started working at the firm. Loki was still around, and you two often met in the mornings before your shift at the coffee shop that you two met at. He'd memorized your coffee and breakfast order, so he was often sitting down at a table with his coffee and your items. There was a morning or two where you were running late, so he'd brought the items to your office. He'd managed to avoid Sylvie, and surprisingly James during the time he spent with you.

Loki spending time with you did not go unnoticed by either of them, or Wanda and Nat for that matter. Wanda would often make sure all calls directed to you went through to James, meaning he would have to care for them. James knew Wanda was going to be on your side when it came to you and him, but he hoped maybe because he was her boss, she'd work in his favor.

James had only spoken to you a few times in the last week you'd been there, but most of it was simple greetings. You hadn't noticed any flustered women in the elevator anymore, but that doesn't mean that wasn't still happening. He was, but he wanted you to think he'd stopped fucking around. He tried avoiding you near the elevators and stairwells as much as he could.

Wanda knew better than to let you get involved with James, she'd worked with him for five years at this point, and was definitely the highest paid receptionist in New York due to how much drama she'd heard being in the middle of the hallway. Nat knew about the conversation between you and James, and what he'd said, the only person that didn't know was you.

Nat wanted to tell you, but Wanda knew you'd probably quit as soon as you knew about his antics with his employees. James knew better than to fuck with Nat, and thought Wanda was too pure to fuck up when he'd hired her; there were also other reasons behind his actions back then.

You smiled as you walked into the coffee shop that morning, knowing Loki would be there to greet you. He smiled when he noticed you walk through the door, waving you over to where he was sitting.

"Glad you could make it this morning." He greeted you. "I missed you yesterday." He commented, gently taking your hand in his.

"I missed you too, Loks." You squeezed his hand gently before tearing into your croissant. You took a bite, chewing it. "I had a meeting early yesterday with Steve and Mr. Barnes. Needed me there for some notes."

Loki nodded, taking a breath. "Mr. Barnes was there?" He asked, shuffling in his seat a little.

You nodded. "Why?"

"Sylvie should've been there instead of you." He replied, suddenly feeling rather protective.

"It's fine, Loki. He didn't even speak to me." You replied, taking a sip of your coffee. "He was staring a little too hard probably, but I wasn't really paying attention." You looked back over at Loki, seeing his face fall slightly from when you'd walked in. "What's wrong?"

"Nothing." He replied, slapping a fake grin on his lips. The smile didn't reach his eyes.

"Loki." You warned, giving him a stern look as you squint your eyes. "Tell me."

He sighed, looking down. He licked his lips before he spoke. "I just don't necessarily trust James. He fucks around with too many women, and I don't really want you to be one of them."

You smiled. "It's sweet that you worry, Loki, but I can handle myself. I'm going to assume that there's a boundary set, given that he is the CEO." You explained, trying to get him to understand that you don't want to be involved with James either.

You glanced down at your watch. "We should go." You replied, throwing away the bag of your pastry and grabbing your coffee from the table. Loki followed suit, trailing you as you walked out into the cold.
