Weeks passed as you continued to work silently under Steve Rogers. You hadn't really gotten a chance to sit down and talk with him, but Loki coming in and out of your office any chance he could find did not go unnoticed by him.
While Rogers was gone when you were in James' office and his fingers were buried inside you, Steve knew something must've been up with how much more observant and questioning James had been about you during the last few weeks. Steve had never been one to get into drama, unless it was for his best friend. He liked to be quiet within the chaos and remain uninvolved.
Wanda noticed Loki's presence as well, which also means so did Sylvie. Sylvie returned to work after having the flu the following Monday like she said she would. Her frustration did not go unnoticed when Loki would dismiss her as he would waltz into your office and quickly close the door behind himself, shielding her view of him. She heard the door lock on a few occasions, which made her stomach burn with jealousy of you.
She harshly opened the door to James' office. He didn't look up from his computer screen as he scrolled through an email from Stark Industries, regarding their case against Hammer Industries over some tech design Tony had patented, that Hammer was trying to recreate. Bucky found it rather boring, but Tony was one of his main representatives when it came to funds. Tony always had something out for somebody, and James was more than happy to help with the right incentives and as long as he would win the case.
Sylvie harshly tossed a file on James' desk, and he looked at her. Her cheeks were red, and her jaw was clenched as she crossed her arms over her chest.
"Is there a reason you're throwing things at me at—" He paused, looking at the time on his computer, "9 in the morning?" He asked, flipping through the file. It was finishing notes on a divorce case Steve managed a few weeks ago while he was out of the office.
"Loki." James' gaze returned to her as the name fell from her pink lips.
"What about him?" James asked, rather intrigued now.
"He's been with Y/N for weeks now. I thought maybe he'd at least ask how I was feeling when I came back a few weeks ago." Sylvie huffed, sitting down in the chair across from his desk.
James sighed, setting the file in a drawer in his sleek desk. Frankly, James knew that Loki was with you, just not necessarily the type. He wanted to stay naive and think you two were just friends, but obviously he knew better than to believe the childish accusations of two adults. In fact, after James had seen you leave with him the same night you had been with him in his office, he hired someone to look into Loki.
He knew that Loki often took you back to his place at night, but you never stayed. He called out a few times saying he was going to be late, but he would sit at home, waiting for a phone call. He knew he was working for someone else, but he wasn't sure who. He wasn't sure exactly what Loki was doing behind his back, but he knows in his gut it has something to do with himself.
"Why don't you just go talk to him, Sylvie?" James asked, leaning back in his chair.
"He locks her door anytime he comes up." Sylvie looked down, furrowing her brows.
"He what?" James asked, sitting back up in his chair. His hands placed themselves on the armrests of his chair like he was ready to jump up.
"Yeah. At least one time when he comes up here, he locks the door. In there for at least 30 minutes at a time." Sylvie continued to frown as she looked back up at James.
His jaw was clenched as he listened to her bland explanation. He needed to know more. What the fuck were you doing with Loki anyway? How could you not see he was just with you to get to him? At least, that's what he thought.
