~ Today ~

I was sitting in a cold, hard plastic chair as Jenner tied a tourniquet around my upper arm, waiting for him to draw my blood. Almost everyone else had already gone, except for Andrea and I.

"What's the point? If we were infected, we'd all be running a fever." Andrea grouched from the seat next to me as Jenner stuck the needle in my arm. I sucked in a breath, trying to hold in the flinch.

"I've already broken every rule in the book letting you in here. Let me just at least be thorough." Jenner grumbled back, snapping the tourniquet off my arm, with a plastic clicking sound following that was probably something to do with the needle. I didn't get up as he pushed something soft into the bend of my arm, and used my hand to press down before he moved onto Andrea. It only took a second longer before the click sound rang out again and he rolled away from us in the chair he was using.

"All done." Jenner said simply, and I moved to get up but froze when Andrea stumbled into me with an 'Ohh' coming out of her mouth that made me worried. I tried to support her as she leaned heavily onto my arm, but I didn't have to for long before someone else came and grabbed her off me, allowing me to straighten up myself.

"Are you okay?" Jenner asked cautiously, and I had to wonder if he thought she was bitten or something.

"She hasn't eaten in days. None of us have." Jacqui explained calmly, and I heard Jenner stand up, his chair rattling as it rolled away from him.

"Well I think I can help with that."

Laughter rang in my ears as everyone enjoyed themselves. It was the first time I think that I had heard most of these people laugh, as the noise did not sound familiar to me anymore. Max was situated firmly at my side, with Hendrix on my feet as always, and I was sneaking him bits of my food as I ate. Daryl was somewhere behind us, as I could hear him loudly talking to someone across the room.

"You know, in Italy, children have a little bit of wine with dinner. And in France." Dale was saying to me from his seat across from me, but Lori decided to cut in before I could say anything.

"Well, when Carl is in Italy or France, he can have some then." I heard Carl start whining, so I cut in before an argument could start.

"Well Max can try some if he wants, what could it hurt?" I heard some cheering as my glass, that I had stationed with my pinkie brushing the rim so that I would know where it was, was picked up, and further cheering when Max must have taken a sip.

"Ugh!" Max cried as the glass was slammed back down on the table. I let a little chuckle out as he sputtered, and when he was finished I flashed him a smile.

"Well, how was it?" He was still coughing when he answered:

"Disgusting! How are you drinking that?" I just laughed as I took another sip of the wine, and Daryl's voice rang out over my head, his fingertips brushing my shoulder as he leaned over me with his hand on the back of my chair.

"Just stick to soda pop there bud." He said with what sounded like a smile on his face, and I heard a noise that sounded like hair moving, so I had to assume he ruffled Max's hair.

"Not you, Glenn!" Daryl called out a moment later, and I heard everyone freeze.

"What?" Glenn asked hesitantly.

"Keep drinking little man. I want to see how red your face can get." Daryl said, and I could imagine that he was smirking as he said it. When he leaned back, his fingers brushed against the back of my neck and I could feel the goosebumps erupt over the path they took.

What in the hell is happening to me?

Hey guys! Short chapter, but I'm trying to get back into the swing of things! I am going to try and update one chapter per book tonight, and I'm going to start doing something new to try and get back into writing:

Whichever book has the most reads on the chapter I update today (the last chapter of the book), will be the book that I update tomorrow, and the next day I'll update the book with the most reads on that last chapter, and the next, and so on like that! So if you want your book to be updated, make sure you are reading it!!

Love,

M
