- since you were kind-of friends with the golden trio you also fell victim to dracos insults and little games
- draco wouldn't target you as much as some of the others but he wouldn't hold back
- quite honestly, neither did you
- you were just as ruthless throwing foul words his way for fun and trying to back up your friends
- even if he ignored you
- and one specific time that happened
- he was taunting the trio and it provoked you as you passed by so you insulted him right back
so he looked you up and down and said, "you must have a little crush on me. always trying to get my attention whenever you don't have it"
- and you just BURST out laughing, hermione, ron, and harry quickly following suit
- draco has never been more confused
- after finally calming down ~which took several deep breaths to get you there~ you told him you were not into guys at all
- it left him speechless to say the least
- i wish i could say it humbled him but it didn't really
- but it did open his eyes a bit
- he slowly stopped verbally attacking you, and did it less to the golden trio too
- you had plenty of classes with him so you never really caught a break before that
- but a couple weeks after everything you guys ran into each other at hogsmeade and he asked if he could talk to you for a second
- you and your friend group that you went with were pretty confused but you waved them off to keep going
- turning to draco you went to ask for what he wants when he cut you off
- "i'm sorry for making things about me, and for always insulting you"
- you almost laughed until you saw his face
- "oh you're serious, malfoy?"
- afterwards you awkwardly walked back to your group and gave them a rundown of what happened
- no one could truly believe it
- quickly forgetting about it and moving on
yet you were paired with him for a charms assignment and just gradually getting to know each other throughout the few days
- which results in you seeing him for someone else other than the bully he tends to be
- going back to the common room and talking about him to ginny and hermione and them thinking you're crazy
- which is the reason you start to like draco as a friend, he is surprisingly a lot less judgemental than everyone else
- he's opinionated but if you values you, then he's willing to actually listen to you
- for the first like 4 months of being friends you both kept it to yourselves
- mostly because of house pride and competition getting in the way
- but you slowly move past that and start to walk to classes together more often
- and you guys will stand outside the dining hall to talk for a little while, or run off to the courtyard closer to the end of dinner just to hang out
- you get soooo many weird looks from literally everyone
- harry was the most upset, but he keeps his mouth shut around you because you've gone over it with him many times before
- draco also stops calling people mudbloods and so hermione thinks the friendship isn't as bad as it first seemed
- back to you and draco, you guys def wrestle in the room of requirements
- also you get him to try new things like nail polish
- he feels safer around you due to you going headfirst into some new and sometimes strange things
- and he keeps you in the present and on time with life
- all in all you guys really balance each other out making life better whenever you are in each others presence
