You somehow convinced Mcgonagall to bring in individual pumpkins for carving. It was a tradition at home, and you missed it dearly throughout your Hogwarts years. But she made you promise her that it would be in your free time and that school work will be prioritized.

Nonetheless, you're now sitting in a random classroom with pansy as you show her how to cut the top open.

"This seems like a lot of work to do every year," she huffs. All you could do was shrug. You knew she wouldn't immediately understand, but she's trying new things and that's all you care about really. She never bullied you for your blood status but it was obvious she had some prejudice to get over before you both could be together.

She groans again. "Here, lemme help," you laugh, dragging the pumpkin, and the knife thats barely punctured the top layer, towards yourself.

You push as hard as you could before the knife went plunging in, making the rest of the process much easier. The stem was completely off as you pushed the pumpkin back to Pansy, going back to your own.

You see her lift the top off and you struggle to stifle a laugh. She looks up at you, eyes wide and mouth agape. "I have to clean this out, don't I?"

With the slight disgust on her face your smile was unable to stay hidden for long. So you just nodded along, amusement glistening in your eyes. Almost giddy inside, you stop cutting into your pumpkin to witness her reaction to the cold, gooey substance inside of her's.

Pansy noticed the look on your face and stopped right before her hand touched the inside. "You did something to my pumpkin didn't you?" she accused, voice higher than normal.

The disgust turned to horror as you laughed hysterically. While she waited for you to calm down enough to talk, she shoved the pumpkin away and crossed her arms over her chest. Her patience thinned as you controlled your breath enough to stop laughing, but upon seeing her scowl you were thrown back into your laughing fit.

After what felt like too many minutes you spoke again, "No, I didn't do anything to it." it took a lot for you to stay put together. "I promise, it's just that I know you're gonna hate it, 's all."

It's obvious she didn't believe you. She pushed the pumpkin at you, "Okay, so you stick your hand in."

"Alright, I will," and with that you put your hand in, grabbing a small amount of goop and seeds and tossing it into her hands that rest in her lap.

Her smirk fell instantly, resulting in a look that shows she felt positively sickened. "Oh no," she was going through the five stages of grief, "you didn't." She now has the goop in her hands, aiming directly at you.

Your hands come up in front of your face in defense. That same pumpkin goop now on your elbow. Cold, wet, and icky. Which wasn't as big of an insult to you as it was to her. Pansy did not get the same sense of accomplishment when you laughed and tossed the pumpkin guts into their dedicated bowl.

"You got a lot more to get through," nodding your head towards her pumpkin. You peacefully went back to opening yours. As you sliced the last bit to get the top off you laughed again. There was such a small amount of goop in yours.

"What's so funny now," she peaked over and your pumpkin and her jaw dropped. "No, now this is just unfair, you did this on purpose," she accused again.

"I promise I'm not," you say as you start to scrape out all of the seeds. "I wouldn't make your first time carving pumpkins so horrible cause then you'd never gonna do it again."

"Maybe to make up for it we should switch pumpkins."

"No way, keep your hands away from my baby," arms now awkwardly shielding the pumpkin sat in front of you. You tried giving Pansy the stink eye but another laughing fit had taken over the both of you.

Eventually you guys finished making your pumpkins and they turned out horrible. But that's what made the memory what it is. And you have many years ahead of you to get more creative than the classic puzzled faces.
