it was late at night and you somehow convinced ron to watch another romcom. despite being married for nearly 5 years he still has yet to grow accustomed to the television.
the characters were at the beach, which ignited a small and faraway memory to come to the forefront of your mind.
"do you remember one of our first dates like that?" you ask ron. drawing light patterns on his hand that's clasped in yours.
"uh, which one exactly?" he sheepishly grinned at you.
"you know!" you gasp, gently hitting him across the chest. "where we were sitting by the water? we went to the beach with plans to go swimming but it turns out the water was definitely not warm enough."
his eyes widen with realization. "oh, the one where i put my arm around you for the first time?" you nod while smiling. laughing at the milestone that was so meaningful and nerve wracking but now nearly insignificant. "i was so bloody nervous to do that. now i can do it casually cause you're all mine."
he smiled devilishly as his arm raised to wrap around your shoulders. his lips connected with yours, but a split second later his free hand went to your waist.
you thought things were going to heat up. it turns out, ron had other plans. the hand that rested on your waist quickly started moving to tickle you.
you tried to move out of his grasp but his strength mixed with your breathlessness was a tough mix.
it took rolling onto the floor and threatening to not kiss him for a week for him to finally stop. you both knew you were bluffing but it didn't take away from the shock factor of saying it at all.
and there you both were, heated faces and big smiles. just like that first time he put his arm around you.
