Yn's POV

Happy. I am genuinely happy right at this moment in time. But the time was soon cut short. Because war was coming. And it would not give me mercy. Not when I have many things to lose. Igor, Ivar and my freedom. But who would be the one to take down me? I have no clue.

(War Day)

***

Our boats start to come closer to shore and I start getting ready. As I shake my hands to get rid of the nerves, a tiny hand holds mine. I look down to see Igor standing beside me with his little smile. "We're gonna be okay" I kiss the top of his head and ruffle his hair. "I know we will but you stay beside Ivar alright?" He nods his head and hugs me. "We're gonna be home soon" I smile slightly at him. "just one more war then we can leave for good" He smiles and heads to the back of the boat. I stare at the shore in the distance. "You ready?" I smile and look down at Ivar. "Yea I'm ready are you?" "I'll keep him safe, don't worry"

I lean down and peck him on the lips. He smiles up at me. "Be careful out there, you're not on Oleg's good side he could harm you out there" I nod my head. The thought did cross my mind. Oleg wants Igor all to himself, I'm the only one standing in the way of that happening. The shore approaches and I get ready to jump out of the boat. My surroundings start to disappear as I start to get in my head. I focus on the killing of my opponent and not those around me. I'm dragged out of my mind when I feel a small body hug me from behind. I look behind me to see Igor hugging me one last time. Then is when it hit me. I couldn't become like I was before. I had a little man that I had to look out for. I couldn't shut out the warriors around me because I could end up hurting the one I care most about.

I make the last minute decision and not to go into my head. Igor pulls away from me and gives me one last smile. Before the dreadful sound of war begins. I hear Oleg do a war cry. It's time. I turn and jump into the water. I swim as fast as I can to the sand bank. Once my feet can touch the ground I pull out of the water and pull out my swords. I run towards the warriors and start to attack.

One by one the warriors that approach me, hit the ground faster then they could scratch me. Their blood covers me from head to toe. The sound of the body's falling to the ground start sounding like a drum beating. As I take a breather I spin to see King Harald smirking at me. "This is your last war, and you won't make it out alive" "Say hi to Hades for me when I finish you off" He grows angry and attacks me. I block his attacks one by one. As soon as he stops to catch a breath I stab him right in the gut. He falls to his knees while blood starts pouring from his mouth. He tries to gasp for air but the blood becomes too much for him. I come to the conclusion to cut his head off. His mouth opens wide in shock and stays like that as his head goes rolling.

As I turn around a sword is plunged into my stomach. I look at the sword currently plunged into my chest, then up to the man who plunged it in me. King Oleg. I feel the blood start trickling out my bottom lip and down my chin. "You won't take him away from me Yn, you just had to leave him and you could have lived" He pulled the sword out and I gasp. My hands slowly lose grip of my swords and they go crashing to the ground. Soon after my body goes crumbling down to the ground. I silent tear slides from my eye as the battlefield starts to turn black.

Ivar's POV

I see her on the battlefield. She was doing well. I had Igor by my side and we watched her slaughter the enemy. She came across King Harald and ended him with little to no effort. I look to my left to see Bjorn being slaughtered. "Ivar.." I look at Igor before I look in the direction he's looking in. No words. No words could explain the emptiness I felt when I saw her face to face with King Oleg. As  he moved away her posture was slump. Her body was leaning to one side unusually until I see what happened. I see Igor running towards her and I catch up as much as I can.

We get to her and she's half dead on the ground. Her skin turning pale, Igor and I grabbed Yn and started moving our way back through the war back to one of the boats. Igor starts rowing the boat and I sit beside Yn trying to get her to wake up. I placed a shirt on her wound and try to stop the bleeding. There was so much blood. Her skin was becoming colder. She was dying. "Come on Yn please hang in there" I was scared. I was gonna lose her and I didn't think that would happen so soon. I thought about all the late night talks about how we would grow old and have a family together. I still wanted that. I needed that. I wanted it all with her and only her.

I look up at the sky and pray to my gods that she survives. She needed to survive in order to live her life the way she wanted to.
