in FY16 (1 April 2016 to 31 March 2017), Child Protective Services found strong evidence or proof that 57,329 children were victims of sexual abuse.(Resouce: RAINN)
2 out of 3 were from ages 12-17.(Resouce: RAINN)
82% of these victims were girls. That means 1 in 9 females under the age of 18 will experience sexual abuse or assault at the hands of an adult.(Resouce: RAINN)
Females aged 16-19 are 4 times more likely than the general population to be victims of rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault.(Resouce: RAINN)
And the worst part is, 93% will know their abuser. It's either an acquaintance or a family member.(Resouce: RAINN)
