I knew it was time to wake up as soon as I heard the sound of the alarm clock and a groggy Lucas, mumbling about how it was too early to get up. As I stood up and got out of bed, it was in fact already past the point of "too early" as I stared at the alarm, December 11, 2017, indicating it was past 10 o' clock.
"Love? Time to wake up, it's already past 10." I carefully whispered and caressed his hair trying to wake him up.
"Hmnn... Just a few more minutes Love, m'kay?" A sleepy Lucas, still tucked in the blankets showing no signs of getting up.
I just chuckled at his response.
"Of course love, I'm gonna check on Devin, and just come down for breakfast, okay?" I whispered, giving him a small kiss on the forehead before leaving and going to Devin's room to check on him.
"Knock knock? Buddy, you still sleeping?" I knocked on the door a few times, so that he could hear me.
"Daddy Finn, I've been awake!" The door opened and little Devin hugged-tackled me as he was giggling excitedly.
"Hey there Bud! Sorry, dad just woke up. Energetic in the morning are we?" I said as I smiled and kneeled to return little Devin's hug.
"It's okay! It's snowing, did you see?!" He excitedly told me as he grabbed my left hand and tugged me along into his room by the window to see that it was indeed snowing.
"Yup, because it's winter! Now, wanna go make some breakfast with me, so that daddy Lucas wakes up?" I asked Devin, and he nodded excitedly.
We both went down to the kitchen, and made a simple breakfast of toast, eggs, bacon, and a bowl of fruits.
"Dad, is daddy Lucas still sleepy?" Devin asks as he stared at the stairs, waiting for Lucas to come down and eat with us.
"Yup, looks like he's still sleeping. Wanna go wake him up?" I asked, and he gave me a big cheeky smile.
Devin took off, giggling as he climbed up the stairs. Shortly after, I heard footsteps and excited giggling as little Devin held Lucas' hand going down the stairs.
"Good morning sleepy head!" I happily greeted, as Devin giggled, and Lucas chuckled.
"Good morning to you too, Love. This little one woke me up, saying he'll eat all of the food if I don't wake up. Isn't that right?" He said and cheekily picked up Devin, as the little one just laughed, explaining that he said that, because Lucas wasn't waking up.
"Okay you two, let's eat some break-" I stopped as I heard a loud thumping, it was abnormally loud at that. It made me feel nervous.
"Who's making that loud thumping?" I mumbled which Lucas caught.
"Love, it's probably just the new neighbors putting up picture frames or fixing something." Lucas reasoned when he noticed the thumping got my attention.
As I smiled and calmed down, when I saw that little Devin was just looking at the food the entire time, you can see in his eyes, the little one was hungry. This just made me chuckle.
"Okay you guys, let's eat while the food's still warm!" I said, as we all sat down and ate breakfast together.
As I was eating, I couldn't help but feel anxious about the abnormally loud thumping that I heard just now. But, I didn't give it much attention now, because I wouldn't want Lucas to feel worried. So, I just shrugged it off as the neighbors hammering nails in the wall.
