"Hey Love, why don't we visit your family before Christmas?" Lucas asked out of the blue as he's washing the dishes while I dry them.

"Oh, um... do you wanna visit them?" I asked back.

"Yeah, I think it'll be nice. Devin's gonna be excited, and I think it'll be good for you."

"Sure Love, we'll visit them later." He gave me a smile as I agreed.

...

We packed a few things before going to mom and dad's house. We bought some food that Lucas cooked a few hours before, some pictures of Devin and Lucas, and some flowers.

"Devin, are you excited? We're visiting daddy Finn's parents today!" Lucas asked as he hacked Devin.

"Yeah! Visiting grandma and grandpa!" Devin excitedly giggled and made small claps.

I just chuckled between their exchanges. And, after several minutes Devin just fell asleep. Looks like he got all of his excitement out.

As I was driving, I saw that there was traffic up ahead, so I followed the other cars that were ahead of me and switched to the right lane.

When I saw what caused the traffic, my heartbeat immediately raced, and I felt my stomach just drop.

It was an accident, a car crash. And, the moment I saw it, I also saw a lot of blood.

Lucas saw that I was struggling to calm my breathing, so he placed his hand on my knee.

"Love, just calm your thoughts, focus on the road, and slowly match my breathing okay?" He said, encouraging me to calm down. I took deep and long breaths to help calm myself down.

And, a few minutes later I calmed down. Lucas said to stop the car at the side of the road.

"Okay Love, I'll be taking over from this point, okay?" He asked, well, insisted on driving.

"N-no, Love, it's alright. I'm fi- better, I feel better now, see?" I said, but it looked like Lucas wasn't convinced.

"Love, it's still gonna take a bit more time to get to your parent's house, so let me drive. Yeah?" He slowly took both my hands off the steering wheel, and he gave them a soft kiss.

I couldn't win against this man. We switched seats, and he continued driving.

"Love, I-I'm gonna sleep for a bit. Maybe, I just need to rest. Wake me up when we get there, okay?" I said, slowly feeling tired and my eyelids getting heavy.

"Of course, Love. I'll wake you up as soon as we get there." He said, and I saw he gave me a quick glance and a smile before my eyes shut.

...

"Love? Hey, Love? Wake up. We're here." I heard Lucas, softly whispering in my ear.

"W-where's Devin? Is he already inside?" I asked.

"Yes Love, our little Devin was so excited that he went in first."

When I fully opened my eyes I noticed that we arrived a bit late, the sun had already passed its peak. I looked around the wide front yard, noticed the walls that stretched far, and the giant trees growing in the back. I knew then that we're actually here.

My eyes quickly drifted towards the giant house, and the dark wooden front doors.

Immediately, these words ran through my mind, "Well, we're already here. No turning back now. Might as well try to enjoy this visit."
