Sanemi sighed, leaning back in the chair, a despondent expression on his face. He closed his eyes for a moment while his students focused on the assignment before them. They seemed mostly pleased for the easy day, well, all except two. Genya had been asked to stay over with a friend meaning that Sanemi either went out drinking or had a girl over. Considering their recent breakup, it likely wasn't Kanae meaning he was out drinking. Tanjiro, who'd had this information relayed to him as it was the primary reason Genya asked to stay over, felt slightly concerned for the harsh math teacher. To both of them it was obvious he was hung over. They couldn't think of any other reason he'd be so quiet and provide such a simple assignment. After class ended Genya stayed back. Once everyone else had left he stood timidly and looked down.

"What is it, Genya? Don't tell me you weren't able to finish the assignment," he said; mild irritation in his voice. He was currently leaning back but sat up and made eye contact as the timid boy approached the desk.

"W-Well I was just wondering if you were okay," he asked softly. Sanemi raised a brow at him.

"Why wouldn't I be?" he responded, his headache too bad to make his voice carry its usual bite.

"Uhm. I mean, you're hungover, aren't you? And you've just been really sad lately and I don't know how to help-"

"I'm fine, Genya. Go to class, I'll see you at home," he waved him off with his hands. Genya frowned before complying as Sanemi let his head fall to his hands and rubbed his temples, wishing he'd brought aspirin but the last two tablets he'd had were left on his nightstand. With no more texts from the girl the day dragged on until finally he'd dealt with his last class. He stood, collecting the papers of the ones who'd finished the assignment, and made his way to the staff room. Upon entering the room, he saw Kanae, Kyojuro, and Tengen chatting in a carefree manner. He forced a smile in response as the woman gave him a polite wave and returned to her conversation. The other two opted to not provide much acknowledgement as he was obviously hungover and likely didn't want to be dragged into a conversation where he'd be made to be cheerful and lively. Sanemi filed away the papers, deciding to grade them later. With a terse goodbye to the three, he left. He stopped at a pharmacy for painkillers before taking the train home. After entering the home, he collapsed onto the couch. Genya poked his head out of his room and before walking over slowly to check on him. He tapped his shoulder softly, drawing a low hum out of him.

"Sanemi, are you okay?" he asked; a worried expression on his face. The older one turned his head to look at him and sighed.

"I'm alright. Don't worry about me, my problems aren't yours. Just finish your homework, please," he said softly before closing his eyes. Genya nodded, even if it wasn't visible to the other, and patted his shoulder before returning to his room. After hearing the door close he got up slowly and stretched. He went to the kitchen planning on soaking the dishes before being pleasantly surprised to see them done. He knew it hadn't been done that morning. He creaked open Genya's door slowly. The teen was doing homework on his bed and looked up with a slightly confused expression.

"Did you do the dishes when you got home?" Sanemi asked. Genya shook his head.

"No, you didn't?" he responded. Sanemi shook his head.

"Nevermind," he said, leaving and closing the door again. Genya was left pondering who might've done them then, before ignoring it and returning to his work. Sanemi pulled out his phone and went to the most recent chat.

Thanks for doing the dishes

He sighed and went to his own room. The sheets were a mess and needed to be washed but he'd deal with that tomorrow. For the night he could just take them off and sleep on the mattress bare. He looked over to see a ¥5,000 bill on his counter. He frowned. The money for the clothes was appreciated but that was more than he needed. He opened his phone to send another text.

You didn't need to leave this much money. What you took didn't cost that much

After he fixed up his bed his phone chimed.

Stranger

for sure. I didnt mind. And don't worry about it. I really dont need the money

   He frowned.

I don't feel right keeping this.

   Her response was immediate.

Stranger

Fine ig. After you get a new sweater and sweatpants let me know

Stranger

We can meet up somewhere or something if its that big of an issue

Alright

Also, I'm really sorry but what's your name? I want to put something for the contact

Stranger

Don't feel bad. Idk yours. My names (y/n)

Thanks. Mine is Sanemi by the way

(y/n)

Cool.

(y/n)

I'm not saving your contact either way

Sanemi felt irritated at her before dropping it. It may have been rude but he was a one-night stand. He was likely already imposing by making her meet up with him but he couldn't keep the extra money. He shot Genya a text to make himself something for dinner as he laid down.

(y/n)

Are you free tomorrow? I can meet you at the mall

Yeah sure. What time?

He was happy that tomorrow was Saturday. It meant this could be put behind himself sooner.

(y/n)

I'm gonna be there from 12 to probably around 4

Yeah sure, that works. See you then

He closed his phone and sighed. Rolling over on his back he stared at the ceiling. His mind was racing. Moments ago, he was exhausted and now he couldn't seem to turn his brain off. He groaned and turned around, burying his face in the pillow before pulling away with a confused expression. A lingering scent of strawberries was on it. That didn't make sense. (y/n) had been wearing perfume but it was more of a floral smell. Her shampoo, maybe? He didn't know but it smelt nice and soon after he passed out.
