After some thought, I've decided to turn the care of Mimi and Buddy to an in-person friend of mine. She's not aware I'm a Mythical, and her family was looking for some more cats. I've known her for a few years by this point, and she already has one black and white cat named Neo.
This way, not only will I know they're in trusted hands (and not some shady animal shelter), but I'll get to see them from time to time. I'll just have to trust that they'll fair well in their new home. And trust that if anything is wrong, Mimi will come to that very alleyway where we first met. We don't have a set time yet to bring them over.
But I know for a while after that, I'm going to have the habit of checking that alleyway.
