werewolf ladies
turned inside out
hairy and clotty
blackheadson their bones
saliva
on their organs
I don't fear
them
but there are other
ladies
with even voices
scarves in place
bones aligned
and half smiles
they police
prisons
and schools
work
and pray places.
they've been
dark
queens to kings
snow white knows.
god help us
(This is about ladies in the real world that scare us all: the ones with tight hair and aligned joints - the controllers. I wrote this after reading Margaret Atwood's poems on female werewolves in 'Thriller Suite'.)
