A D I R

My head jerked up and my eyes shot open in an instant. Sleep clouded my every thought, lulling me like a baby towards the darkness.

I rested my cheek against my hand, elbow propped on the desk, fighting the pull of exhaustion. Beneath the table, my leg bounced almost of its own accord, a subtle rhythm betraying the effort it took to stay awake.

A thud brought me back to the land of tired souls and my two-toned gaze locked on the head on the table beside mine. His short, dark hair shined in waves as his forehead pressed against the table in a yielding gesture. His eyes were shut and light snores rose from him.

The teacher carried on at the front, talking about forces and motions. He made no attempt at waking any sleeping students; wanting to survive this lesson as a whole.

II had the desk to myself, the minutes dragging as we sat in bored silence. Around me, most people stared blankly out the windows or tapped their pencils in restless rhythm. We'd gotten back to school ridiculously late—around 2 a.m.—and now, six hours later, here we were, staring down the beginning of a temporary physics class.

It was a nightmare.

A faint commotion drifted in from down the hallway, but nobody seemed to care. Heads stayed down and pens moved lazily across paper.

II turned my head tiredly, letting my gaze drift toward the duo at the back. The temporary class was due to a problem with the teachers or some crap like that.

Pandora laid slumped lazily against the table, with an arm lazily cushioning her head. Her eyes were shut with her lashes softly brushing her high cheekbones whilst she peacefully slept. Her and Hendrix had been the most wild last night so no wonder they were both knocked out. Her hair was tied in a messy high ponytail, curled pieces framing her tanned face.

Besides her, sat loverboy -aka Bentley. He sat exactly like her; slumped with an arm under his head. He faced Pandora, his eyes fighting to remain awake whilst the arm he was resting on circled around Pandora's limp head. He fought an invisible battle with sleep and I watch his eyes remain on the back of her head.

Sophianna listening intently to the lesson as her eyes flew over the equations and diagrams he had drawn, noting them in her book. Her legs brushed the edge of a neighbouring chair as she concentrated, red lips pursed in thought.

I needed something to keep me awake—a jolt of adrenaline—but nothing in this dull classroom could provide it. So, of course, I created some.

I eyed the two near the back, quietly calling for lover boy. It took a few tries, even catching sophianna's attention from two away, before his head lifted off the surface and he slowly blinked, focusing on me.
