Hendrix cheekily grinned, coming to a stop just before me with a shopping cart. He looked expectantly at me and without hesitation, I gripped the edge and hopped in.
Hendrix began pushing the cart with me inside and we ventured down the aisles of the supermarket. As he pushed us along he would swipe a whole lane of snacks into the cart, landing them on my lap. I also occasionally reached out a hand, grabbing some of my own as he happily hummed.
People gave us weird glances but we ignored them like usual and Hendrix pushed us down the fizzy drink aisle.
Just at the end of the aisle, I grabbed two lollipops, unwrapping one and holding it above my head. It was then plucked out of my hand the following second. I unwrapped the other and popped it into my mouth, enjoying the flavour of apple taking over my senses.
"So..." Hendrix dragged out and I leaned back into the cart. "What are we going to do?" It took me a moment to realise what we were talking about. He then emphasised. "I knew she was familiar but I thought she was just one of those people I saw one too many times on my way to class. Her brother confirmed we knew her but that doesn't explain why she is connected to all this."
"It can't simply be because you saw her when picking up your cousin a couple times." I elaborated. A small pause. "I can do some snooping?" I said unsurely, wondering if I would find anything relevant.
"Go on." Hendrix urged me and I pulled out my phone as he steered us straight, continuing on his hunt for some more snacks although the cart was half full.
I clicked onto google and searched Holland Caydence, hoping something relatively connected popped up. I scrolled passed the local news that was still going on about our school's murder. I kept searching through endless articles and newsletters about the unfortunate 'accident', sighing when nothing came up that would give us a reason.
Then I stopped when my eyes caught a certain article on her family.
I opened it, sucking on my lollipop silently. I let my eyes wander over the text until it landed on her parents' names.
Lydia Caydence was a familiar name I had heard before but from where, I had no clue. So I did some more snooping and ended up with an entire log of their family. As Hendrix steered us, I thought to myself until I finally realised from where I knew her.
"OH MY GOD!" I shouted making Hendrix come to a sudden halt. I almost went flying out of the cart but luckily Hendrix had grabbed the back of my shirt before I could.
"What?!" He asked, alarmed.
"I know where she is from." I turned around, staring at him with wide eyes.
"Oh?! Go on!" He said excitedly, staring down at me.
"Lydia Caydence, mother of Holland Caydence was the secretary of Wilson enterprises up until she was fired a couple of years ago."
