•~Ponyboy's P.O.V~•
I heard steps coming up the stairs, but this time it sounded like there was another person with Michelle.

"Who do you think she's with?" I shrugged.

"Maybe her boyfriend," I suggested.

"Last time I checked, she was single." The door opened and in came Michelle and Dally.

"Dallas?!" Johnny and I exclaimed. If I had been right about the boyfriend thing, then they were dating.

"You picked yourself up a nice group of Greasers." Michelle laughed. It was soft and genuine. Unlike the fake laughs, some Greaser girls used, trying to impress us.

"Even your laughs are cute," Dally smirked. God this was embarrassing. Dally couldn't stop himself from flirting with anyone. Michelle blushed madly and sat down next to us.

"We should probably get started on our project." She grabbed her notebook and Dallas went around touching everything.

As Michelle and I talked about how we'd put it together, she'd keep glancing up at him. I was afraid she liked him already. She was a nice girl. I didn't want her to get hurt due to Dally's impulsive actions.

"You don't think he'll steal anything do you?" I smiled. I figured she must have liked Johnny and me enough to not think that we'd steal anything.

"No, Dally doesn't steal from Socy girls. Especially ones that he likes." She chuckled and shook her head.

"He doesn't like me Ponyboy, he's just flirting as he does with every girl in Tulsa." I tried not to think about how he apologized to her. Which he never did for everyone. If she knew him well, she'd know that he liked her.

"You sure are fancy. A for sure Soc all right." Dally said picking up a diamond ring. It looked real, and there was more than one diamond on it.

"Randy gave me that a couple of months ago," Michelle said, writing something down in her notebook. Maybe he gave her that because he felt bad about hitting her. I didn't know.

"Real good cousin you got." I saw her smile.

"Yeah, I know." I couldn't tell if she was faking, but from what I was told Randy seemed like a shitty cousin.

"So we're gonna do it on a big poster board right?" Michelle nodded.

"Yeah, I can buy all the materials and stuff-"

"I can pitch in a little." She looked at me, and I knew she wasn't trying to hurt my feelings. Or trying to be sympathetic that we had hardly any money.

"I can buy it Ponyboy, you don't have to worry about it." I gulped and nodded. I knew we didn't have the money for a bunch of fancy project stuff.

I felt terrible. I felt like I wasn't helping enough. Michelle was being too nice. Maybe I just wasn't used to Soc's being nice to me. I wasn't sure but I still felt uneasy.
