•~Michelle's P.O.V~•
"He didn't say it back?" Johnny asked as I twirled my hair around my index finger."Well, no," I mumbled, thinking about the event that happened earlier today.
"What exactly did he say?" Ponyboy asked, his eyebrows furrowed with confusion.
"Well.."
•~FLASHBACK~•
Dally and I sat in a diner, Dally was waiting for his milkshake but I already had mine. He made some joke that I replied "god you're annoying" to, making him reply in his usual snarky manner.
"You know you love me." He chuckled.
"Yeah, I do." It slipped out, it really did. I would've stopped myself from saying it if I could. I knew that Dally wasn't fond of those words, and I knew he probably would never say those words back to me.
"That's...nice." I gulped, an awkward silence filling the air.
"I promised I would help Ponyboy with a certain math subject so I'll um, talk to you later Dally." I quickly got up, awkwardly walking out of the diner and mentally scolding myself for saying those stupid three words.
•~END OF FLASHBACK~•
"I feel so stupid." I sighed, putting my face into the palms of my hands.
"Dally just isn't big on those words, he probably just felt uncomfortable." I felt so stupid. I knew Dally would never say those words, I knew if he didn't it would break my heart, and I was right.
"It's gonna be awkward now, and you can't exactly come up with an excuse for something like that." Johnny almost said something when the doorbell rang. "Sorry, I'll be right back."
They nodded before I walked out of my room and down the stairs. My heart was hurting practically in my throat as I wondered if it was Dally. If I was being honest, I didn't want to see him, at least not right now. I opened the door, and unfortunately yet, fortunately, it was Randy.
"What do you want, Randy?" I asked in an exasperated tone.
"I just wanted to make sure you're okay, Marcia said she saw you and Dally at the diner and you walked out looking upset." I froze, Marcia was there?
"It's nothing, I'm fine." I started to close the door but Randy caught it with his hand.
"What happened?" He asked, opening the door.
"I told Dally I love him and he didn't say it back, is that what you wanted to hear?" Randy stared at me for a moment, thinking about God knows what.
"I told you." I felt as if someone had kicked me in the gut. Randy was an idiot, he told me that Dally didn't love me because he didn't like that he was a Greaser.
"You don't know anything," I whispered, trying deeply to believe myself. I closed the door in his face, hating him, hating his voice, and hating that he was probably right.
