''I WON.'' Josh yelled and he was mocking me by singing 'I won' over and over.
''No, Josh, you CHEATED.'' I said.
''No, I didn't.'' He lied.
''Yes, yes you did.'' Me and my mom both said. My mom was there watching us play.
''Yeah, one time only.'' Josh lied again.
''No, Josh, you cheated six times.'' My mom said.
''Okay, I cheated.'' He said. He was sorry for a moment but then he smiled. "But I still won.''
''No, I won.'' I said smiling.
''What?'' He asked, surprised.
''Well, you cheated, so I win.'' I said. ''You have to be a good sportsmanship, Josh. You know you could have won, but you cheated.''
''Oh well, I'll get you next time.'' Josh said with a smile. ''Trust me.''
''Ooh, I'm scared.'' I said and feigned that I was scared. We all laughed.
''Hey, do you want to go for a ride.'' He asked me. I looked at him. "A bike ride."
''Oh, ok.'' I agreed with him.
"I'll get my bike, see you outside.'' He left. I went to the garage and got my bike. I pedaled my bike to his house. Seconds later, he joined me, we rode our bikes around the neighborhood. Minutes later, we left our neighborhood and entered another neighborhood. I didn't know how long we were riding but we stopped abruptly in front of a huge house, this house was a mansion.
''Whoa.'' Josh and I whispered together.
''Who must live here?'' Josh asked. He was amazed, even I was amazed.
''I don't know.'' I whispered. This house was the biggest house in the neighborhood. Suddenly, the door opened. A man stepped out, he looked around his fifties, no more than fifty-two, he moved with so much grace, he was muscular, he had reddish-brown hair with green eyes, he kind of resembled Alec, I felt like I knew him, like I've seen him before in a dream, but what dream? There was something about him.
''He's a Protector.'' Josh said. I looked at him, Josh was right, he was a Protector, I could feel it, but there was something more about him that I felt like knowing, but could not know. He looked up and met my gaze. I gasped, he kind of looked like my mom, he had the same face shape my mom had. He whispered something that I didn't hear.
"Josh, maybe we should go home.'' I said. My voice was trembling.
''Works for me.'' Josh said. I looked at the man, there was fear in his eyes. Josh and I started backing off our bikes.
''Wait, Rosabelle!!!'' He cried. He started running towards us.
''Annabelle!!'' Josh cried and I knew what he meant. The man was running toward us. ''Annabelle!!'' Josh yelled. I took hold of his hand. The man reached out his hand.
''Rosabelle.'' He said and we disappeared. We crashed on the ground.
''Ouch.'' I groaned in pain. I was bleeding.
''What's wrong?'' Josh asked, worried. ''Are you hurt?'' He looked at my left leg that was bleeding. ''Gosh, Annabelle, you're bleeding.'' He said. I was bleeding really bad, he took off his shirt, and wrapped my bleeding leg. I was shocked by this reaction of his. I watched him finished wrapping my leg, he was shirtless now, he looked up at me, we held our gaze for a moment.
''You know, you didn't have to do that.'' I said. He only smiled. ''I mean, I have bandages at home.''
''I know.'' He said, smiling. I smiled back. Josh could really, really be charming and adorable. He stood and held out his hand, I took it, he tried to pull me up but could not because my leg was in pain.
