Luke's House

''Oh, my Gosh.'' Romana said for the third time. She was pacing back and forth in my room. "You are starting to love him back.''

''I think I'm starting to love him back.'' I corrected Romana. She looked at me, her smile brightened.

''Still.'' She said. "So, tell me every single detail about it.''

''Well, there's really not much to tell you.'' I told her. She raised one of her eyebrows in suspicion.

''Oh, come on.'' She pleaded.

''Fine.'' I said, excited to talk to a friend about it and not my mom this time. "So, every time they are on dates, I spy on them...and when they are about to kiss, I make small accidents happen.''

''Like.'' Romana said, pushing the conversation.

''Can't tell you.'' I said and it was the truth. If I told her, I would expose one of my darkest secrets. I mean, how would Romana react if she knew that I had a power and my power was a dangerous curse that could destroy the world by one simple wish...just because I was no ordinary Mind-Wisher.

''Can you give me an example then?'' Romana asked.

''Um, okay.'' I said. ''So on Monday, they were about to kiss and I was like 'Josh, Josh over here.'" Romana laughed heartily, even I laughed. "And I keep feeling something every time they are sharing little love affairs, but it can't be jealousy, right?''

"It's jealousy, my friend." Romana said, smiling. I groaned.

''How can it be?'' I asked myself. ''How can I have a crush on Josh?''

''I think the problem is that you have a crush on your best friend, but you don't want to just because it would be too weird.'' Romana said. As soon as she had said that, I knew it was the truth, and even though I didn't like it, the truth was, I had a crush on Josh and he didn't even know it, Just like he'd had a crush on me and I hadn't known.

''Why don't you want Erika to kiss Josh? I mean, she's his girlfriend, they'll kiss someday.'' Romana told me.

''Well, I guess it's because he was the first boy to kiss me and I want to be the first girl to kiss him.''

''So, you've never kissed him?'' Romana asked, shocked.

''Yes, if an accidental kiss counts.''

''You've accidentally kissed him.'' Romana said, shocked. "Girl, there's a lot of things I need to know about you." I smiled at that.

''Do you need a ride home?''I asked.

''Don't worry about me, Josh already promised me that he would give me a ride home.''

''Okay.'' I said. We went downstairs. Mom and Luke were talking to Josh. When they felt our presence, they stopped talking abruptly.

''Come on, I promised I would give you a ride.'' Josh said to Romana, but he was looking at me. Romana turned to look at me.

''Well, I have to go.'' She said. I nodded.

''Remember.'' I said. She looked at me and smiled.

''Don't worry." She said. "I'll keep it and won't break it.'' Josh simply stared at us. They left together, I turned to face my mom and Luke.

''Would it be alright if I ditch school tomorrow?'' I asked.

''Sure.'' My mom said. "Did she called you the N word in public.''

''She called me the N word in front of the whole class of Drama.'' I said with so much bitter. "And I'm sure that the whole school knows about it already." I continued. "So that makes me the talk of the school.''
