The Hospital

I sat at home waiting for what felt like hours for Peter to come home. I went into the bathroom and puked for the fourth time. My cell started ringing in my pocket. I quickly washed my mouth out with some water and answered it.

"Hello, is this Catherine Barrett?" The voice said.

"Uhm, yes this is. May I ask who's calling?"

"This is Nurse Benson from Queens General hospital." My heart fell into the pit of my stomach. "I'm calling because you were listed as the emergency contact on behalf of Harry Osborn. He was brought into the hospital a little while ago. He was in an accident." I felt the hot tears start running from my face.

"Oh, god. Is he all right?!"

"They are working on him now, ma'am. If you could get down here as soon as possible, that would be best."

"I'm on my way." I hung up the phone and quickly brushed my teeth before dashing down the stairs and out the door.

I put my mask over my face and began swinging through the city, as it was the fastest way I could travel. I was about a block away when my phone started to ring again. I pulled it from my pocket to see, Peter and I's picture.

"Hi, honey. Now's not really a great time..." I said.

"Are you out? I thought I told you to go to bed." Peter said concerned.

"I know, but I just got a really bad phone call. I'm on my way to the hospital." I explained.

"What why?"

"It's Harry. Something bad happened to him."

"Wait, they called you?" Peter said, with jealousy evident in his voice.

"I'm his emergency contact apparently. I'm outside now, about to head... in..." I walked around the corner after pulling off my mask and stuffing it in my pocket, to see Peter with his phone against his ear. Looking at me from the double doors. I clicked my phone shut and so did he. "What are you doing here?" I smacked his arm.

"Ow. What was that for?" Peter looked at me wildly.

"You didn't answer my question! You said it was a quick trip to Aunt May's and you'd be back. I was worried something happened to you. Then, the hospital called and I thought it was about you and..." I couldn't help it. The tears just started flowing. I didn't even understand why I was crying.

"Hey, hey. Shh. It's okay. I'm all right. I'm here." He was surprised at my sudden out burst of tears. I wasn't normally a crier. He held onto me and gently ran his fingers through my hair. He walked with me through the hospital. Back to the waiting area he had been sitting at.

Flint Marko was still on the run from the police. He was chased until he disappeared, by falling into a large demoleculization machine, filled with sand. He looked up to see a large spinning claw come down around him. He attempted to run out, but ran into one of the fast moving propellers. Flint fell backwards landing in the center of the fast moving sand storm that had circled around him. The sand particles changed his molecular DNA within the machine and his body turned to dust.

Peter and I sat for a couple of hours waiting to hear news on how Harry was doing. Peter explained what had happened between him and Harry. I wasn't greatly thrilled by either of the boys actions, but what's done was done. We held hands and I fell asleep on his shoulder, exhausted. I also gave him the sweatshirt I was wearing, which was his anyways, so he didn't have to wear the shredded up suit, and get asked any questions. He shook me awake gently and gave me a coffee cup the nurse had brought over for him when he asked for one.
