Listening to: Set the World on Fire by Black Veil Brides

A while back we had songfest, for homecoming. We didn't place, although I feel that we did a better job than the Sophomores (Beyonce) and the Seniors (We don't even know if they had a theme- They were reading the lyrics off of the back of a giant cutout llama). The Freshmen did mainstream and the Juniors did Frozen, and it was amazing, and they won.

Juniors to Freshmen to Seniors

We Rookies, or the seventh and 8th grades, had the theme 'The History of Rock and Roll.'

(Cue 'I am Bulletproof' by Black Veil Brides)

Rui and I were overjoyed when the theme was announced. We were thinking, Ohmygosh!! Someone finally understands us!!

Then we read the songs.

(They're basically basketball or school (or grade)-patriotic parodies of songs.)

Needless to say, we were devastated.

1960s: Rockin' Robin- Chuck Berry

1970s: Respect- Aretha Franklin

1980s: Can't Touch This- MC Hammer

1990s: Beat It- Michael Jackson

2000s: We Will Rock You- Queen

2010s: Wiggle- Jason Derulo and Shake it Off- Taylor Swift

(Cue Nobody's Hero by Black Veil Brides)

After school, we raged.

HOW IN THE WORLD DOES ONE MISTAKE OR FRICKING PUT JASON DERULO AND TAYLOR SWIFT AS ROCK

NOTHING AGAINST TAYLOR THOUGH, I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST HER

HOW IS QUEEN THE 2000S

HOW IS MC HAMMER ROCK

THE ONLY ROCKISH SONGS THERE ARE WE WILL ROCK YOU AND ROCKIN' ROBIN

AND THEY BOTH HAVE ROCK IN THE SONG TITLES

WHAT THE HECK

IT WAS SO MESSED UP

AFTER SCHOOL WE WERE-

Ahem.

After school we looked up all the genres for those songs, and they were not rock. Not at all.

We checked out our music and we got:

Rock

Rock

Rock

And more rock!!

There was even Christian rock!!

(Bands include Black Veil Brides, Thousand Foot Crutch, My Darkest Days, Three Days Grace, and Green Day.)

I mean, how hard is it to just research some rock music?!

But we did our best in the competition anyway, considering that there was nothing that we could really do anyway.

The picture on the side just about sums it up.
