26. Hesitation

As we got into the car I spoke up

"Are you sure you know how to drive?" I asked Danny teasingly

"Of course, I'm not stupid" He replied putting on his seatbelt

I followed and put on mine too. (Be safe guys🙄)

He looked like he struggled a bit to turn the car on which I found hilarious, But he ignored my laughter rolling his eyes at me.

We pulled out of the driveway and soon enough we were driving into town.

"So where do you wanna eat?" He asked me still with his eyes on the road.

"I thought we were going to Mcdonald's" I said laughing afterwards a bit

"Well if that's where you wanna go" He replied

"Sure, I don't mind" I stated

He nodded as he started driving towards the Mcdonald's close by.

After we got our food we ate it in the parking lot of the Mcdonald's and talked a bit. It was stupid small talk but it was fun, We could talk like we have known each other our whole lives.

After we were done eating the sun was starting to set leaving the sky a pretty pink colour.

"Hey so I had an idea" He spoke up

"Yeah?" I asked ready to listen to what he was going to say

"So uh, I kinda have this place that I really like to go sometimes, Usually to just clear my head, but the sunsets are really pretty there" He paused looking at me trying to see if I looked at all interested

I nodded and he continued

"Do you maybe wanna go? I mean it's totally up to you I just think it would be nice" He asked smiling a bit

"Sure," I spoke "I'd love too"

"Alright, great!" He spoke as he started the car up again

Soon we were leaving the town, Heading towards forests and farmers fields near my house

as we drove down a smaller more unknown road Danny took one hand off the steering wheel and gently placed it on my inner thigh.

I let out a small gasp at the sudden movement, he must have noticed my change in mood because he slightly smirked to himself, eyes still on the road.

Soon we were driving through a patch a forest. It was really pretty. The now orange looking sun was shining through the trees. I looked over at Danny to see his gorgeous blue eyes almost shining in the sunlight.

It wasn't long before we drove out from the trees to see a open field. The sun was in the middle of the field just about to set, and it was beautiful.

"We are here" Danny said removing his hand from my thigh and turning off the car.

"Wow" I said "It really is beautiful here"

"Yeah.. But not as beautiful as you." He spoke

I laughed a bit

"Sorry that was so bad" He laughed with me

I'll admit it was a bit cheesy. he was blushing with embarrassment.

Soon the laughter stopped and we made eye contact.

"No but in all honesty, You really are beautiful Y/n" He spoke putting a hand on my cheek

I just blushed.

He pulled me closer and gently brushed his lips against mine causing my heart to beat quicker.

As he pulled away slowly we both were smiling. I felt at home around him. When I was with him all my worries just drifted away.

Dannys POV:

As I pulled away from the kiss and looked at Y/n again all I could think about was how gorgeous she looked. Her e/c eyes sparkling in the sunlight, The slight blush on her cheeks. She just looked amazing.

Part of me wondered how I had gotten so lucky. While the other part of me wondered how somebody as amazing as her could ever love a killer like me.

To be completely honest I never thought I could ever love somebody this much. The thought of her not loving me back crushed me. I without a doubt I loved her, So without thinking the words slipped out of my mouth.

"I love you.." I spoke quietly, almost whispering.

Back to Y/n's POV:

"I love you" Danny spoke quietly

My eyes widened at the words and I hesitated. I knew I loved him back but for some reason the words didn't come out of my mouth, It was like I froze.

He definitely noticed my hesitation and backed off a bit

"I'm sorry.." He spoke quietly again as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

I stayed where I was still frozen. I did love him so why won't the words come out??

"It was too soon, I'm sorry" He repeated sitting back in his seat staring almost emotionless at the sun that was now almost all the way down.

"Wait.." I said but I was cut off

"No Y/n, I'm sorry" He interrupted "I shouldn't have said that, it's too soon"

Thoughts were racing through my mind. Did I just ruin this? Why can't I just tell him how I feel?

Before I could say anything he spoke again

"It's getting late we should probably get home before it gets too dark. There's no street lights around here"

I stayed quiet as he started up the car and started driving back towards my house.

As we started driving down the road to my house I looked at Danny. I don't know why, I guess to see if he had any reaction at all. I frowned a bit at his expression, He almost looked like he was holding back tears.

We pulled into my driveway and we both got out of the car. It was now dark.

He walked me up to my front porch, his head slightly low.

"Are you going to come in?" I asked grabbing his hand and holding it in both of mine

"Nah I think I'll just go tonight" He said, His voice almost breaking in the last few words

I could tell by the way he was acting that he definitely did love me. And I felt the same.

I pulled him into a hug, He almost immediately buried his head in my shoulder.

He held me tighter and let out what seemed to be a sigh or relief.

"thanks for tonight.." I spoke up again "It was really fun"

he let me go a bit and made eye contact with me for the first time since we got home

He smiled "I really do love you Y/n, and you don't have to say it back I just thought you should know how I really feel."

I smiled at him which caused a slightly confused look to spread across his face

"I love you too Danny." I spoke smiling more as I said it.

The biggest smile ever then spread across his face. I don't think i've ever seen him smile that much.

He then pulled me into a hug so tight I could barely breath which made us both laugh a bit.

A/N:
I don't know if I love or hate this chapter but whatever haha. And I know I kinda ended it weird so sorry about that. Anyways I don't know if I will post again until after the Holidays so Happy holidays everybody!! Even if you don't celebrate Christmas or anything like that I hope you have a great rest of your year and I hope everybody's doing well. I'll post as soon as I can. Bye everybody <33
