LINCOLN HIGH SCHOOL
3:12 PM LOCAL TIME

Mary brushed off the dirt off her cheer skirt. She accidentally fell when doing a flip.

"Have you memorized all the cheers yet?" Nell asked sipping her water bottle.

"Honestly I was just planning on moving my mouth so it looks like I'm talking..."

Nell choked on her water and let out a laugh.

"ALRIGHT BREAKS OVER LET'S GET BACK TO FIRST POSITION!" Camilla Ramirez yelled.

Camilla Ramirez was a tall Mexican girl with dark brown eyes. Her hair was always down but Mary had never seen her curls get into her face. She was the cheer captain, she reminded Mary of Damian sometimes with the way she talked. Very direct.

Mary was what was apparently called a back spot, she caught the "flyer" which was the girl that they tossed in the air. Maybe it was a good thing she wasn't one of the girls to toss someone in the air... knowing Mary she would accidentally toss a poor girl to Saturn by accident.

The football players practiced yards away. Mary watched them do push-ups. She wondered what Jon and Damian were doing now...

"GRAYSON!"

Mary looked to see all the cheerleaders staring at her.

"Yeah?"

"Why are you just standing there? We are at position six."

Mary looked around to see the formation had changed.

"What happened to two through five?" Mary asked confused.

Some of the girls laughed but no one answered her question.

Mary saw a football soaring through the air. It was going right towards Camilla's head.

"Hey, look o-!"

Mary pushed Camilla to the ground and caught the football in one hand.

The rest of the cheerleaders gasped.

Mary looked down at Camilla who seemed more embarrassed than scared. "Are you okay?"

Mary held out her hand but the girl pushed herself off the ground.

She cursed in Spanish and crossed her arms.

Mary threw the football back. Perhaps she may have thrown it too hard because the boy who caught the ball flew back two feet.

"Go get me a soda from McNeil's and some chips. Adriana go with her."

"But why-"

Camilla gave Mary a look and Mary sighed. Camilla handed another girl, Adriana twenty dollars.
