We have been married for a while now and it's almost Christmas again.

We are doing the adoption thing again with lowering the fees and I have been helping a lot but I haven't been feeling well.

On the way to the shelter, I stopped and got a pregnancy test. I'm hoping this time it's positive.

Once I got there I went straight to the bathroom. I really hope I'm pregnant.

I peed on the stick and pace back and forth in the bathroom until the timer dinged on my phone and I turned it over and saw two lines.

I couldn't see through my tears but I couldn't wait to tell Madden. No wait I need to get this confirmed with my dr and I'll give it to him for Christmas.

I dry my eyes and put the stick in my purse and head to his office.

"Hey, babe! You ok?"

"Yeah, I had to go to the bathroom." I smiled.

"Did you go see the kittens?"

"No, but I want to."

He got up and grabbed my hand and we went to the kitten area.

"Oh gosh, I love them all Madden."

"I knew you would and you are going to try and convince me to bring one home."

"As bad as I want to I will say no this time. Our two love each other and I don't want to disrupt that.

Later when Madden was busy with Pat I called and made a doctor's appointment and they said that I could come in tomorrow for blood work.

I don't want to keep it from Madden but I don't want to get his hopes up yet. I'm so afraid I may lose this one too. I think once you lose one it's always in your head.

I was in his office working on the social media post about the adoption fees slashed in half when my phone rang.

☎️ Hello?

☎️ Miss Granger this is Barbie at Dr. Shepard's office and we have an opening at 2 pm today if you would like to come in.

☎️ That would be great Barbie. I will be there.

☎️ Ok see you soon!

I hang up the phone and try to figure out what I can say to Madden so that I can leave.

It's 1:30 now so I need to get going. I close his computer down and go to find him.

"Hey, babe what's wrong?"

"I'm not feeling well so I'm going to head home and take a nap ok?"

He leans in and kisses me. "Ok sounds good I will bring some food home ok?"

"Sounds good I got the social media posted though so things should be good to go for tomorrow."

I lean in and kiss him again. "I love you Madden."

"I love you too Reyah."

I clutch my purse and head out to my Range Rover and drive downtown to the doctor's office.

I walk in and sign in and it wasn't long until Barbie called me back.

"Thanks for calling me. I was hoping to find out before Christmas."

"Oh, it's no problem. Let's get your weight and blood pressure and then we will have you urinate in a cup and draw some blood."

"Sounds good."

Once in the room, I explained what was going on with me and how I took a test earlier and it said positively.

She sent me down the hall for some bloodwork and then I went to pee in the cup.

I went back to the room and set until Dr. Shepard walked in. "Hi Miss Granger how is it going?"

"It's going well! Since I saw you last I got married so it's Berlin now."

"Oh, congratulations! I know your parents are ecstatic."

"My mom was yeah but we lost my dad last year."

"That's right I'm sorry I forgot. Russ was a good man."

"Thank you, Dr. Shepard."

"Well, I have your results right here let's see. Well, Reyah you are pregnant so let's see what we can see with a sonogram."

"I took a test today but after losing the last one I was afraid."

"All women feel that way and you will probably feel that way until the baby is born." He said squirting on the gel.

"I had a feeling that's how it would be and I don't want to tell my husband until I knew for sure."

"I understand that. Well, it looks like you are three months along Reyah so we are looking at a delivery date in June."

I looked over at the screen and I could see my little baby and this is further than I got the last time and I do have a little hope and I can't wait to tell Madden.

He prints off the pictures and hands them over to me. "Just make an appointment out front and I hope you both have a Merry Christmas!"

"Thank you so much, Dr. Shepard and I will. Merry Christmas to you as well." I smile hopping off of the table.

I made an appointment and went to the dollar tree to get some sort of box to put the stick and pictures in. I'm going to have to give it to him tonight more than likely.

I got everything I needed and went home to wrap it all up and then hid it in my dresser drawer and then laid down on the bed with the cats until Madden came home.

When he leaned down and kissed my cheek the scruff on his face woke me up. I turned over and smiled.

"Babe I brought pizza home."

"Good I'm starving!"

He leaned down and kissed my lips. "I have had so many calls about how many animals we have and what time we open in the morning."

"That's great news Madden! It's working again this year!" I smile getting out of bed.

We head downstairs and he grabs drinks and I grab the pizza box and we head to the couch to eat in front of the tv and all I can think about is the baby.
