What is wrong with me? I'm acting like a high school kid with a crush.

But in my defense, she is a beautiful woman and she makes me nervous.

I need to go to sleep because I need to be at work by 7:30 so we can get things set up.

I turned over in bed and closed my eyes and all I can see is her smiling face starting back at me.

At some point, I fell asleep and when the alarm went off I felt like I had just gone to sleep but I got up and took a shower, and then headed to the shelter.

When I pulled up Reyah's range Rover was already there. She got out and walked around to my truck door.

"Morning! Ready to set up?"

"Morning Reyah! I am ready! Thanks for all you have done and I've seen those flyers everywhere in town."

"Good because if you have seen them then everyone else has." She smiled.

When we walked in Shirley was smiling. "Morning guys! We have the dogs washed and dried and they have cute bows around their necks."

"Well, that's a wonderful idea, Shirley!" Reyah smiled.

There was a knock at the door and when I turned around I saw Reyah's mom and I rushed over to open the door.

"Hey, guys! I have all sorts of cookies!" She laughed.

"Mom we could have helped you," Reyah said.

"It's ok sweetie. I made so many cookies. These with icing are for people but the bones are for the dogs. Don't mix them up." She laughed.

"Oh man, I can't wait to taste a cookie. Shirley this is Reyah's mom Libby. Libby this is my right-hand lady around here." I laugh.

"It's nice to meet you!" Shirley said.

"Same to you Libby and I can't wait to try a cookie." She smiled.

Reyah pulled me into my office and shut the door. "I want to show you something."

"I thought you pulled me in for a kiss." I laughed.

"You must really want a kiss Madden you have mentioned it a few times. Don't you have girls lined up to give you one?"

"No not currently." I laughed.

We walked over to the computer and she leaned over my desk and pulled up the website. "Look how much traffic has happened since yesterday."

"Wow look at those numbers. Well, let's hope we have a good turnout. I'm going to go get Spooky and put him in a cage here in my office and lock the door."

"Let me go get him so I can get a cuddle or two in." She smiled.

"Ok, I'll get the cage ready and get a fresh blanket for him," I said following her out.

I watched her walk into the room and pet all of them before carrying Spooky out.

"Reyah what are you doing with that cute kitten?"

"This is Spooky and sorta my cat but Madden is going to keep him."

Libby smirked... "Is that so?"

Reyah ignored her and came back to my office and kissed Spooky on top of his head and put him in the blankets.

"Look at what happened to our picture." She laughed.

"Wow look at all the likes. Can I read some of the comments?"

"Help yourself. A lot of them wanted to know if I was your new girl and about moms catering and then some about the cute dog in the picture. Oh, some wanted to know my hair color too." She laughed.

"What no one asked about my hair color?" I laughed.

"At least you have hair."

"Reyah you guys get out of here and quit flirting! We have people waiting."

"Oh, good grief we weren't flirting we were going over stuff." She said.

I unlocked the door and the madness begin. People were everywhere wanting to see dogs and we had a process where a few of my other employees went over adoption papers so I didn't have to fool with it.

I walked over and took one of Libby's cookies that looked like a Santa and that sugar cookie was delicious.

"Hey, son! What a crowd!" Dad said.

"Glad you made it dad. I can't take any credit but I can stand here and eat a cookie." I laugh.

"Is that Russ's daughter over there? Your mother has talked a lot about her."

"Oh, I bet she has." Reyah looked in my direction and I motioned her over to me.

"Whats up Madden?" She asked.

"I wanted you to meet my dad Chet."

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Berlin."

"Please call me Chet. Your dad was such a great man I'm sorry to hear of his passing."

"Thank you! I would like to think he is here with us right now." She smiled.

I watched as she talked and her eyes were glassy and I didn't want her to cry.

"Hey walk with me and let's see how many have been adopted out so far."

"Sounds good Madden." She said wiping her eyes.

Once down the hallway I stopped and turned around. "I'm sorry, my dad made you tear up."

"I'm fine Madden but it just hits you in the face sometimes and you realize they won't be walking in."

"I know I'm sorry. Can I hug you?"

"Sure I could use one." She laughed.

I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her tight. She wrapped her arms around me and squeezed and damn she felt good.

"Is that better?"

"Much thank you! Now let's go see how many dogs we adopted out."

We walked back to one of my newest employees and he was smiling. "Hey, Pat how many have we adopted out so far?"

"Seven so far!" He smiled.

"Wow, that's more than I even expected. Is that all together or just dogs?"

"Just dogs. I'm not sure about cats yet." He said.

Reyah looked at me and smiled biting her lip. "I'm so happy this has worked and these beautiful animals now have homes to go to."

"It is all because of you Reyah." I smiled back at her.
