PAIN SWAM THROUGH ACACIUS' HEAD AS HE CAME TO. All he remembered was seeing the horror of his relatives' powers getting amplified against their will, then seeing them fall before Tobias knocked him out.
He found himself back in his own throne room, with the other three still out. A couple of the guards had rushed forward to tend to them, having found them there in the first place.
"King Acacius! Are you all alright, sir?!" one of the guards, a blonde-haired one with twisted horns, spoke with concern.
"We're alright." Acacius managed to get out before blinking and looking around. He just registered that they were back in the throne room. How'd they get here from Tobia's room?! "W-What the hell?"
"Is something wrong, sir?" the guard questioned.
Acacius didn't answer. His hues flickered to Orien, Alcemne, and Habentis. They had come to and the guards were checking for any injuries. Relief washed over him and he ran over.
"Oh thank god... you three are alright." Acacius' tone had a rare tone of gentleness to it.
"D-Dad?" Alcemne parted some of her white hair from her face. The guards helped her, her brother, and relative get up. "W-What happened? I hurt all over!" she winced. "Dammit..."
"I-I don't know...how long have we been out?" Acacius admitted, looking around. Tobias must have gone somewhere if he had knocked out the four of them like that. He looked at the blonde guard again. "Fidus! Where's Tobias?"
"He went to the abandoned lab, sir. He said something about wanting to check up on the statues there. And also, to answer your question, you four have been out for a good couple hours."
"Shit!" Acacius felt panic rush through him. Tobias said the deal was over a year. Surely, he wasn't thinking of cutting it this soon, was he?
Fidus' hues broadened with worry and Acacius did a wave of a hand to reassure him.
"We need to go see Tobias. But first, tend to them, please." Acacius ordered to Fidus.
Fidus nodded. He and a couple guards used their powers to tend to the three's injuries. Fidus noticed there was a bruise on Acacius' head when they finished. "Sir, are you sure you don't need tending to?"
"Please, I'll be fine! Let me be." Acacius sounded a bit irritated and soughed in apology when Fidus flinched. "Just...take us to him."
The four were escorted by Fidus to the lab. The doors opened with a slow creak and they turned a couple corners. The doors once occupied by Kage, Shiro, Kōri, and others were open, revealing their vacancy.
They found Tobias inside the section where the Legendaries were being kept. He had his back turned towards the four, his hands folded behind him. What they couldn't see was the sinister grin on his face.
He stuck a hand out and flicked it, a small device appearing. It looked eerily like the one that Michiko talked about.
When he tapped the top with his thumb, the diamond in the center went from a dull to a bright red from the glow. It took on different colors as it scanned the Legendaries kept in stone, before going back to its regular red color.
"It's only a few months from now. If that Solaria and the entities don't get here by April, then...they'll have to say goodbye to their planet and everything else they hold dear." Tobias flicked his hand and the device disappeared. "Especially once I have the Legendary's powers and those two kistunes'. It's just a matter of time."
His ears twitched and he turned around, seeing Acacius and his three relatives there. They didn't like the looks of what they were seeing.
A frown crossed Tobia's features before the smile returned, his red diamond hues glowing eerily. "Well, looks you four are awake."
