I swear I knew it.
I knew it the moment Kyle knocked at my door.
I whimpered, and I couldn't open my eyes or mouth.
"Des," he said. "Are you awake?"
"Clearly. Not." I responded, rubbing my eyes.
"You need to check this out,"
"Don't tell me-" I moaned.
"I won't tell you then," Kyle said, breathing in. "But just come out,"
I got up and tied my hair. I rubbed my eyes and opened the door. Kyle was leaning against the window with his head down and eyes closed.
I looked up at the clock and rolled my eyes.
"What now?" Mike said. He held a firm stand, unlike me; I was swaying and stumbling on my own shoes.
"I slept for just five minutes." I said, to no one in particular.
"We're almost there," Kyle walked up to us.
His under eyes were light red. His face was still scarred with small red streaks.
"But we have a problem." Kyle said.
I KNEW IT.
He gestured towards the control room. We followed inside.
Two pilots were on their seats- one on the navigator, the other on the wheel. They were clad in royal blue uniforms.
"That," The one on the navigator said running his fingers through the screen.
I squinted and leaned closer.
Our air craft was moving forward and a green light twirled around it.
"Light show?" I asked. "That's not so bad."
"That's the detector ray," he said.
"Oh," I said. "So....?"
"Here," he pointed to the right end. There was a small red light, with the words- UNIDENTIFIED, on top of it.
"What's an-" I formed air quotes. "Unidentified,"
"Nothing," he shrugged. "That's the problem."
Kyle shook his head and turned to me, realizing I was falling into the depths of confusion.
"It's not nothing," Kyle said. "The word means nothing. But there's something that we don't know out there."
"So can't we let the something stay there?" I asked.
Kyle lips twitched. Silently he moved his finger to the small light. "It's heading towards us,"
I stared at the red light and waited for it to move. And it did. Just a bit. "It's making slow progress." Mike said.
"It'll crash onto us in just about a-" The pilot muttered to himself. "Fifteen minutes."
"Well- can't we just take another navigation route?" I asked.
"No," He said, and crossed his arms. "Peace Isles has disabled all other routes for travelers. Those are blocked. Blocked with portals leading to the dungeons."
"It's illegal?" Kyle asked.
"Very,"
"We're gonna die," Mike said.
"Look on the bright side, Mike. You can be more optimistic than that,"
"Yay! We're gonna die! Wohoo!" he said.
