29. A few moments of extreme relaxation and CHILL.

After a few minutes, things had cooled down. As in, the media had cooled down and dad and the others had dismissed them from the palace. Also, Linda and her team were popping champagne and regenerating the specimen for vaccination.

I ran down to the palace backyard and saw Kyle and Misty looking out at the fields of Peace Isles. It was a view of buildings structurally pleasing. They stood in curved patterns, and some rigid and in different colors.

"MISTY!" I ran to her, and she hugged the life out of me.

"Cannot breathe-" I said, and she pulled away.

She smiled. "I didn't come to you 'cause of that boy-"

"Yes- yes. Liam, he's chill. I know him," I said.

Misty looked drained and I couldn't help but notice how her blue eyes were so glassy and reddish.

"Are you hurt....?" I asked.

"No," Misty looked at the ground. "I am tired though."

"Me too," I sighed.

Misty lifted her head up to look at Kyle.

Boy, wasn't he looking striking.....

His hair was tousled and the way he was standing.... Really, drove me dizzy.

"It's not like-" he started, but I hugged him and he almost lost balance. My feet dangled from the ground as his arms curled around my waist.

"Whoa," he laughed. I could feel the rising and falling of his chest. His stupid heart which almost went INACTIVE for a while back at the forest, was beating.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" I yelled. And I guess I yelled his ears off.

He laughed. "How did you know?"

"Mike told me,"

I pulled back and I wished I never did. We were too close. The closest we've ever been. This time I could see his eyes every speck of blue and green and whatever the gorgeous colors in his eyes.

"I-I," I said. "I don't have presents I know-"

"But you did," he said with his breathy voice. His breath fell against my hair. "The coffee,"

"But it's not a present. You can get that anywhere,"

"But you can't get exclusive coffee anywhere," he said. "For Kyle and Kyle only. Remember?" he smiled.

The scars that went across his cheek were pale red. He was going to speak but then stopped and looked down at my lips. Then back at my eyes.

My hair fell on his shoulders. He smiled. I realized that I shouldn't be keeping my hand on his chest and looking at him all I wanted because THAT IS NOT WHAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO DO.

He released me from his grip. I took a step back and looked at the ground while I still felt his eyes on me.

Misty was staring, jaw-dropped.

Kyle didn't care. And I knew he wouldn't care about people staring at him. It was a part of his LIFESTYLE. I was his center of attention, and I couldn't deny it.

My legs felt so much like jelly. I just wanted to dissolve.

"Hey!"

Mike saved me.

He skipped towards us and gave a bear hug to Misty- literally, covering all of her.

"Aww," he said. "I missed you,"

She giggled.

"Look," Mike said. He stopped a moment to look at my face which was probably bright red. "Well," he put an arm around my shoulder, still holding Misty who was hugging his leg. "WE ARE ALIVE," He screamed.

I closed my ears.

Kyle laughed. "Very much alive," he smirked at Misty. "I can sense it from your tone,"

Misty made finger guns at Kyle.

"Grandma Jo," Kyle said, looking distant.

"Grandma Jo?" Mike asked, freezing in place.

Kyle grinned. "She's okay now," he said.

We breathed.

"Who's grandma Jo?" Misty asked, crinkling her nose.

"Grandma Jo, oh she's Kyle's grandma-" Mike talked. "She's still got the moves,"

Kyle rolled his eyes. "She'll pull your hair out,"

"Oh I don't care," Mike pulled out his pack. He filed in his hands and took out Mushy. She was asleep in a white blanket.

Mickey nuzzled a finger on her feathers. She whimpered.

"It's over," Mike said. "Right?"

Misty reached out to the bird, and took it by her hands.

"No," I said, looking out to the huge landmass extending forth. I looked at the river that started and flew into the ocean, and the light that glistened on it. The ring of fire was over and there wasn't darkness anymore, but that didn't mean there wouldn't be another solar eclipse. "I think it just began,"
