"Don't wait until it's too late to tell someone how much you love and how much you care about them. Because when they're gone, no matter how loud you shout or cry, they won't hear you anymore."

-Unknown

Madeline's P.O.V

I shot up rapidly from the bleak, white bed that I was confined to. The metal rails made me feel claustrophobic and the medicine-smelling sheets made me want to pass out again.

Sweat was dripping down my body and my heart felt like it was racing in the marathon of life.

My head spiralled in a thousand directions, trying to fight the sharp pain that made my head pound.

Tall men and woman dressed in full white began to file in, along with a distressed and fatigued Zachary.

"Madeline!" He hollered multiple times, being pushed out by the security involuntarily. He fought and fought, until three of the doctors had to restrain and take him out themselves.

I stretched my hand out towards him helplessly.

Zachery kicked the door shut and struggled against the opposing forces.

As the certified individuals surrounded me and held up all sorts of metal instruments, I squinted my eyes in an attempt of retrieving the lost words of Zachary Tyler.

"I love you. . ."

It wasn't until they injected me with a needle that was filled with green liquid, that I recalled the faint cry that he made seconds ago.

A faint cry that consisted of the three most powerful words.

When they successfully removed him from the scene, the same words that escaped his lips echoed throughout the room.

They were almost inaudible.

It was as if I was the only person who heard them.

The only person who could possible decipher what they meant.

And the only person who could accept the delivery of the bundle and hold them near to my heart.

Because Zachary Tyler just admitted his love for me.

"M-Madeline." My mother grasped my hand in a tight hold and pursed her lips in a straight line, using all the strength she had left to not break down.

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion and looked at her wearily,"What's wrong—are you alright?"

Just as she was going to part her lips, a long strangled sob filled with sorrow and melancholy erupted from her.

It felt like millions of needles were stuck through my skin when I saw her condition and what state she was in. I wanted to be like Zachary; to be that special someone who would comfort her and solve all her problems and issues so that she would be able to smile again.

Soon after, my dad tumbled in running his fingers through his hair and trying his best to keep himself in one piece in front of us.

But it had no use.

Because he broke down and looked vulnerable—something that you would never see from a man like himself.

"I-I want you to k-know that I love you with every single inch of my body and soul," She whispered, kissing me gently on the temple of my nose.

"Madeline. . .you've been diagnosed with Stage four brain cancer and you have less than ten days to live." She covered her hand with her mouth and shook her head like it was all a dream.

It was a dream right?

There was no way that I could've been living each day of my life with a brain tumor growing and growing, destroying me by the minute.

Each time that I had vomited. . .

Each time that I passed out. . .

Each time that I had those excruciating pains throughout my body. . .

Was all due to the fact that my body was slowly shutting down, losing it's value and worth to something that was slowly but surely killing me.

Zachary's once deep and rich voice, cracked while he banged against the door, yelling for it to be opened.

His deep, meaningful green eyes connected with my very own—the ones that held no hope.

It seemed like he was searching and searching my eyes for something to grasp—something to hold onto.

But I looked away, knowing that my body couldn't handle the thought of him searching and searching infinitely.

Only to find out that the person who he just admitted his love to. . .

Was dying.
