Chapter 14
"No!" Daryl continues to shout. The handcuff dangling empty with no merle in sight -just a blood trail and hand, "No! No!"Daryl can't help but scream, "No! No!" As he sees his brother's sawed off hand.
The rest of the group stay silent in disbelief of the length Merle went to get free. Atlas isn't as surprised as he thinks he should be- Merle was erratic the last time he saw him.
"No!" Daryl continues to shout. The handcuff dangling empty with no merle in sight -just a blood trail and hand, "No! No!"
Daryl turns his crossbow on T-Dog blaming him for the dissapearance of his brother but Rick is just as quick and pulls out his Python with Atlas following his lead.
Rick takes a deep breath, "I won't hesitate. I don't care if every walker in the city hears it."
Daryl lowers the crossbow and asks T-Dog, "You got a do-rag or something?"
Atlas having a feeling of what Daryl is about to do speaks up, "Do you really need to do that?" The hand looked like it was already decaying.
"Yeah I do. I guess the saw blade was too dull for the handcuffs. Ain't that a bitch." Daryl picks up his brother's hand and wraps it in the do-rag before shoving in Glenn's backpack. "He must have used a tourniquet... maybe his belt. Be much more blood if he didn't."
Atlas notices the blood trail and points it out to Daryl the group starts to follow after him while T-Dog picks up the tools on the roof.
Entering an open door Daryl shouts, "Merle? You in here?"
The group of five slowly clear the office area before meeting back up as Daryl shoots a walker in an office, "Had enough in him to take out these two sumbitches. One handed. Toughest asshole I ever met, my brother. Feed him a hammer, he'd crap out nails." Daryl wants the group to believe Merle is still alive. Atlas already has his doubts but ignores them, 'if the brother without a weapon will cut off his own hand to escape, what will the brother with a weapon do?'
Rick speaking sense, "Any man can pass out from blood loss, no matter how tough he is." The group moves on through the halls.
Paxton looks up from the cards he was dealing to his brother when Morales speaks, "Oh, baby. Will you look at that? Hey, check it out. Ladies... Because of you my children will eat tonight. Thank you."
The sisters had brought back a chain full of fish.
Andrea not wanting to take all the credit, "Thank Dale. It's his canoe and gear."
Carl excited and distracted from the cards says to lori, "Mom, look. Look at all the fish." while poking them, which makes Paxton laugh.
"Thank you," Lori says to the sisters.
Carl cant keep in his amazement "Whoa."
