jett has been wanting to impress sage this mission. she wanted to confess after to her today hoping she'd have a great performance giving her more confidence but instead, she's been zoning out, missing her shots, and almost got herself killed. jett's been waiting in cubby, wanting to rush in with her knives A site but knew that's a horrible idea. she looked above and saw the wall wasn't that tall. 'if only i could fly that high..' she sighed. 'maybe i could clear A site for us, that would impress sage, right ?'

with this new found idea, jett pulled out her knives "get out of my way !" sage, who was watching their flank heard her and alarmed the healer knowing how careless jett could be. "killjoy, please take my place." without giving killjoy a chance to even respond she went towards A long. she sees jett throwing her cloudbursts and checking site. 'stupid girl, she's gonna get herself killed.' jett proceeds to dash in to the right, updraft to kill mirrorverse viper. what she didn't see is killjoy's mirrorverse self behind to the left of A long's arch.

the korean tried to turn around in the but ultimately, wasn't fast enough. she got shot three twice, once in her right leg, twice in the abdomen. she quickly fell to the ground like a bird getting hit by a stone. she started cussing in her native language with heavy breathing knowing this'll be the end, she closed her eyes tightly waiting for killjoy to shoot. she heard gunshots and a voice, "jett ? jett ! don't go to sleep now, please" she opened her eyes, still in lots of pain with heavy breathing.

sage, without hesitation pulled out her knife to cut her own clothes. she wrapped the cloth around jett's wounds tightly, "jett, please don't go. stay with me.. please.." sage pleaded while jett couldn't even say anything. sage picked up jett and spoke through the ear piece, "brimstone we're returning back to the aircraft. jett is injured and losing blood at an alarming rate.." sage sounded so hurt. jett tried to say something but instead started coughing and coughing "save your breathe bird, it won't help with your situation." jett just continued to lay in her arms while she ran. sage spoke more but jett could no longer make out what she's saying.

jett was thinking, 'is this how it all ends ? because if my recklessness ? in sage's arms before i even got to confess ?' now she wanted to cry, if it's gonna end like this she wants to thank everyone for being there for her. she's gonna miss teasing phoenix, being chaotic with raze, she's gonna miss being the wind girl she is most. jett was so focused on these thoughts she never realized they were in the aircraft where sage was trying her best to treat her. sage's voice is what snapped her back to reality.

"jett why would you do that.. you could've asked me to cover you. you could've gotten killjoy, viper, or raze to cover you. you wouldn't be here right now.." sage was sobbing. jett felt bad but had no courage to speak, not like she could. "please.. stay with us jett. everyone would miss you so much if you were gone, if you left us. wouldn't you miss us too..?" sage was trying her best to give jett some motivation but sometimes, you can't control what happens. the white hospital like bed was stained red, the thick bandaging that replaced the cloth was visibly leaking, and jett was starting to feel tired.

jett suddenly found enough strength to speak to sage, "sage, i don't think i can do much for this," even in this moment jett managed out a chuckle. "it's like killjoy says, wouldn't it be so funny if i died right now ? don't mourn over me, live your life without me. you'll find a way to." jett gave her a light smile, "i'll try my best to hold on as long as i can.." she paused for a moment. "i'll do it for you." sage hugged jett, "thank you, joon-hee. i promise you'll get to see another day." jett smiled into the hug "you don't have to promise me anything, do your best and if it doesn't work. remember, it's not your fault sage."

sage teared up even more and hugged jett tighter, "you're such a silly hawk, of course i have to promise you it. i can't afford to loose something so important to me." sage released from the hug "lay back down i need to make sure you'll be ok." jett just obliged, saying nothing. sage was watching over jett and talking to her making sure she won't fall asleep. mid-conversation when they were only a few minutes away from landing sage had the worst conversation of her life. jett sat up, "sage i lay in your lap please ?" she was a bit confused but went over and let her hawk do what she wanted. "i am, so very tired sage." sage's eyes widened, "jett don't fall asleep, please, you know what's gonna happen." sage whispered the end.

"sometimes sage, you can't keep a wild animal for long. you have to let them be free and release them back in the wild." jett still held her comforting smile while sage cried, holding her. "jett please don't do this, we're close to landing, hold on a bit longer.. please.. we can get you proper care soon !" sage was trying her best to get her young bird not to go. jett used the last of her strength to get up and kiss sage and sage, to jett's surprise, kisses back. it was quick and sage fell back in her lap and closed her eyes after one more simple sentence.

"i love you sage."
